Gentleman,

As I understand it, these two medications are contraindicated. However, my dosage of deprenyl is extremely low (~1.2mg/day). Can I safely combine this with a fun night of tramadol, or am I asking for some risky blood pressure?

Thanks in advance,
mp3

Does anyone have any advice, other than not to do it? If not, should I wait the standard two weeks in between ceasing deprenyl before trying the tramadol?

What do you use the deprenyl for? How is it working? Sorry, I can't answer your question.

I'll move this to ADD. Although it might not necessarily be their type of material, I trust that people over there will be qualified to give you a good response.
Even though you and I both know the answer is do not take tramadol.

Well tramadol is not your classic opioid in that it has activity at many more sites than just the mu opiate receptor (eg SSRI), so I'd say leave well alone. If you also consider that selegeline/deprenyl had chance to lower the convulsive threshold, when tramadol has convulsiuons listed as a serious side effect, I'd say that only the foolish or the desparate would combine the two

Slightly offtopic: Where is the convulsion-inducing limit with Tramadol? I mean, more or less? (in mg/kg or your preferable scale)

AFAIK, 50 mg are an acute dosage with moderate pain, around 100 mg for heavy pain. 400 mg is the recommended daily intake maximum. So, where's the convulsion-treshold?

Thx for help, Murphy

Where you're sure to have a seizure? Who knows. Many people go up to 1500mg without a problem.

I've repeatedly hit 800mg sans seizures.

Ok, ok, I admit, with every drug there's some variation in physical and psychological response. But there are also common thresholds. For people without tolerance, ya know? ;)

Let me give an example to make my point clear (not opioid-related, just for explanation):
20-25 mikrogram LSD are considered to be the active treshold of acute LSD-effects.
50 mikro LSD are considered to be active, albeit on a moderate (or even low) level.
100 mikros are full active. Hallucinations and all the glitter.
-> Exceptions from these values are not uncommon but the minority. For the vast majority of plp these are valid. OK?!

like most things its a bell curve with a few on one side with extreme sensitivity and a few on the other with extreme tolerance...i am usually on the latter with most things and this is not due at all to abuse or the like :(

Thank you for the replies, I will hold off until I cycle off the deprenyl. To answer a previous question, I use it for depression (after my shrink kicked me from the program for testing positive for marijauna), and as a nootropic, although the former is much more important to me. It saved my life, as my prescriptions for celexa and mirtazipam ran out, and I was in a pretty bad way.
