tramadol addiction/dosage etc

I personally love tramadol. To be blunt, I enjoy it way more than percocet, vicodin, etc. I love the mood lift it gives me as well as the pain relief. And it lasts a long time. The withdrawal from it, however, is horrible.

Tramadol is a wonderful drug, but it can be deceiving. The mood lift + opiate buzz is really unmatched and can been intense at higher dosages. I've abused tramadol to a fault, had a few seizures, and those are fucking SCARY. I've taken up to 900mgs (not cool) and anything over 500mgs makes me zap. When I say zap, I mean ZAP. My entire body convulses for a moment, I forget what I was talking about (mid sentence) and this has led to a full blown seizure during xanax withdrawals, but it usually passes after awhile of every muscle in my body suddenly tensing as tight as possible for a split second. This usually happens to me if I take a huge dose all at once.

I've also made the mistake of taking 100mgs of tramadol after forgetting I took a small dose of buproprion earlier that day. I thought I was just really tired all of a sudden after I took the tramadol and thought I'd go try to lay down for a minute. I had a grand mal seizure.

The seizure risk is extremely real, and it will probably happen eventually with long-term, high-dose tramadol abuse. The only real way to 'safely' take higher doses of tramadol is to mix it with a small dose of a benzo. .25mgs of xanax, 15mgs of temazepam; something. I don't get 180 tramadols a month anymore, so it's been awhile since I've actually had some. I think the seizure risk gets downplayed even though it's well known. You'd think after some shit like that I wouldn't touch em, but I really couldn't stop as long as I was getting scripted.

I -highly- recommend ramping dosages with tramadol. Ramping of course is when you take small doses over a period of time, building your dose up instead of taking it all at once. Tramadol is more effective when dosed this way anyway, and with the reduced seizure risk taking it in this fashion, I'd suggest always dosing like that.

Sorry for the long post, hope this helps even though this thread is way old.

i got a script of 20, 50mg tramadol tabs from the hospital for a concussion. anyway. i gave my gf 9 of them for paying for the script, that left me with 11. i am a pretty heavy opiate user, im always IVing morphine and oxycodone and such, hundreds and hundreds of milligrams of it a day.

anyways. so i injected 2 of these tramadol tabs for immediate relief from withdrawals, i injected very very slow, and it still made me kind of nausaus, then i swallowed 2 more tabs. so i injected 2 and then swallowed 2 so thats 200 mg. i usually inject 200-300mg of morphine for a good, nodding high. anyway. how should i take my remaining pills? should i take 2 every hour?

really i am using these to avoid withdrawals and might just not take any more tonight, and take a few more tomorrow. how does anyone else think tramadol works against withdrawals? and how long would you say a dose (of what size?) keeps the withdrawals away? hope to hear from you guys soon. i have lots of experience with almost all other opiates (hardcore ones) but i not too much experience with this tramadol. im starting to feel the effects. very subtle. its ok. i feel a little funny. lol. not good, not bad, just a little like kinda clouded up. idk how to explain it. anway. hope to hear your replys.

Dude, don't shoot tramadol. Tramadol isn't just an opioid. It's also an anti-depressant (SNRI i think). Plus, it's only 10% as strong as morphine IV'd. You would have to shoot a ridiculous amount and by that time, your veins will almost definetly be damaged. Please just take them orally!! As far as helping with withdrawal, tramadol can be a lifesaver. It should keep the withdrawal away most, if not all, of the day because of it's long halflife. Take them as directed. If you're going to take more than directed, start small then keep redosing 50mg every hour or so. The metabolites build up and get stronger the more you redose.

eh i shot 2 and swallowed 2 and got a mild buzz and definately kept the sickness away. yeah its a SSRI Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor. but oh well. im a junky and i have shot so much drugs in the past 3 years....wow. i have tried injecting almost everything. i really do have a lot of experience with drugs. and they keep getting me into trouble with the law. DWI-Drug Intoxications, i just got my 2nd one in a year and a half. drugs make me and my gf fight like crazy. she cant get off of em, i cant STAY off of em. ugh. anyways. so yeah my life is pretty ruined. honestly. i have hepatitis C and my gf also does and she was just recently told she has stage 1 cirrhosis of the liver. i doubt i have anything like that because i have a very high and active immune system, but it is an auto-immune deficiency where the immune system (the liver anyway) starts attacking itself. but who knows. im sure i have massive amounts of pill fragments built up in my lungs, anywhere thats where ive heard that shit goes. so im not scared. haha.

but anyway. getting away from my life story, feels good to get that out, i was just feeling sick cuz i only have 5 or 6 left so i just injected another one. i swallowed 2 when i woke up 10 hours ago. i just started feeling ansy and not able to sit still again. anyway. im going to try to be a lot more active on here. i may not be best at harm reduction but i am good at telling people WHAT will get you high, and HOW to get high off of it, which is mostly what people want to know. i can inform them of the proper way to do something and also what to do and what not to do. i have a lot of experience with drugs. i wish i could put them down....

back to tramadol being 10% as strong as morphine IV'd? where are you getting this info? i have never heard of that?

oh and the reason i am injecting (even tho its just one at a time) wasnt to get high but just to keep the sickness away. as all drugs it has 100% bioavailability when injected, meaning ALL of the drug gets absorbed. but when swallowed it has a 50-70% bioavailability i think? so yeah thats the reason i injected instead of swallowed that last dose.

tramadol WDs were one of the worst I have ever experienced.....search my name + tramadol for an old post about it

i cant imagine horrible withdrawals off of tramadol, lol. nothing like oxycodone/heroin/fentanyl withdrawals. or even morphine withdrawals. morphine withdrawals are HORRIBLE, even though short lived they are very intense. its just a good thing they only last about 2 days...the worst part of it anyway.

like i said ive just been taking small/moderate doses of tramadol because its all ive got (prescription from the hospital for a concussion) and its been keeping me from being sick. lol. i do have suboxone but suboxone blocks other opiates and i have been doing morphine here and there. hopefully i get a bunch of morphine today! yay!!!!

i had a seizure on tramadol and i still have cravings to take the shit. i hate this fucking drug alone, but it goes nicely with my benzos, roxis, and lyrica :)

exactly, i experienced severe anxiety, cramping, headaches, stomach/GI problems etc...basically way more serious and severe symptoms than a normal opiate WD...
to be honest id say the WD experience from higher dose and/or prolonged tramadol use for myself(and many others) was more like a combination of WDing from benzos, opiates, and then a lil bit of anti-depressant meds all at once......so dont think that because tramadol is not a strong opiate or whatever that the WDs will be tame because if you do some research u will see just how bad they can be.
