Tramadol 500mg taken at once Vs. 100mg ER???

Hi,
I'm Secrets and I'm a newbie.. Thank you in advance to any replies I may receive!
My Dr. Recently changed my meds up on me and I no longer get the 50mg Tramadol, I now receive the 100mg ER Tramadol. My question is, does anyone know how many of those I would need to crush/chew to get the same effect as 400-500mg of the regular Tramadol?
Any suggestions are appreciated!!!!

4-5, obviously.

I suggest trying 4-5 tabs unchewed atleast once though. It'll take longer to come up, but since it gets into your system slowly, more will be metabolized into O-desmethyltramadol. (The good stuff.) Having tramadol in your system increases the metabolization of tramadol. Alot of people space out their IR doses because of this reason. IMO XR tabs pretty much do the same without a need for redoses.

Extended release tramadol tablets for me provide more benefit than instant release tablets. Since your liver is continously metabolizing only a small portion of the drug, your liver has room for metabolizing more tramadol to o-desmethyltramadol.

I find 200 milligrams extended release tablets to be equivalent to about 400 milligrams of instant release tablets.

I know to the majority of you on here this seemed like the most idiotic question ever!!

About 25 minutes ago I chewed 4 100mg ER Tramadol.. I guess I will for sure know soon how my body/ mind will react to this as everyone is a little different in this department.

No need to chew it, the whole point is that the extended release tablets are better than the instant release tablets because they release small amounts of tramadol at a time, allowing your liver to convert it much more efficiently into the greatly more potent opioid o-desmethyltramadol.

Hey Secrets, I am toolegit_toquit and I am a newbie to this site. This question's actually a very good one. The previous repliers are very informative about taking the ER without chewing it. I was prescribed 300 mg trams as my doctor is helping me taper off from 800 mg a day. I would take two 300's and wouldn't even need the other 50 mg tramadols I had. These ER pills are slowly released, but its a high dosage so you feel the effects for a longer duration. I am no scientist but to me, that's better than chewing them and have them wear off in a few hours. I do believe most of the ER tramadol pills are released over a period of 24 hrs. I personally would take to 300's in the evening and Id still feel pain relief through the night into the morning. Anyways of course everyone's different, that's just my experience with crushing vs. taking the pills whole. Hope this helps!
