So I was listening to my local NPR station as a frequently do and on it was an interview with the author of the book Trainspotting. It was a good interview so I decided to hose off and buy the movie. I took money that would usually go to finance my habit and I bought a moooovie.

Anyways, I was about five, maybe ten minutes into it and I was overcome by an urge to use. So what do you think I did?

The film is good and about a group of heroin addicts. I'm sure many of you have seen it. I had heard about it and just rectly made the time to sit down and watch it. Much better than Spun, a movie about a bunch of tweakers, I shudder at how bad Spun is in comparison to Trainspotting... its like comparing the United States to Canada... it just doesn't fucking add up. Trainspotting is excellent and Spun is amusing but overall IMHO a terrible film when you stand them side by side.

I am degressing from my point. Trainspotting did a very decent job of displaying certain aspects of how addifcts live their lives... Its a great movie I highly recommend everyone watch it, its good for 94 minutes and it'll be good in a week when I'm nodding to heaven.

Anyone else seen this? Liked it, disliked it? Tell tell!

read the book man. the book is kickass, irvine welsh is amazing. the book and movie have different story lines and that movie just so awful:(. i like danny boyle's movies but this movie is just a big disappointment for me.

euphoricnod it changed the way I look at movies. Although because it is so old some of the so called"special effects" were dated IE baby crawling on ceiling. But when it first came out I shit myself cause it was so close to my life at the time. That movie changed me for the better.8o

electra your right by todays standards its shit......but in its day infact it made me go read the book.Although I can't say for certain I have seen danny boyle's movies, maybe I have and just dont know it. Name a few
And PS it does make you wanna use

See even my quote is from the movie

I never liked Spun, I hated the characters and the story didn't really go anywhere. I loved Trainspotting, great acting solid characters and smooth directing. I should really pick up the book at some point.

I'd take Canada over the US any day of the week.

the problem with trainspotting, from my perspective, was the director/producer couldnt make their mind up if they were in glasgow or edinburgh...

i like trainspotting, but i like spun too.

trainspotting has a way better story, but i think spun is just as entertaining - the way it plays out is really interesting, even if it's not a deep plot. the problems could be since it was jonas ackerlund's directorial debut..

ive seen the movie many times, its excellent.

ive been meaning to read the book but the crazy phonic spelling of the accents throws me off a bit; ill probably pick most of it up after a couple dozen pages though.

trainspotting is definitely a better movie IMO. the main character in Spun was way too clean cut to play a convincing tweaker. plus, scottish accents make everything more funny.

In trainspotting the main character try to stop taking heroin, the Spun's main character is always fucked out and he never think to stop tweaking

I really didn't like Trainspotting the movie that much, however I do want to read the book, I'm pretty sure it would keep me reading, much more than the movie kept me watching.

How's Porno compare?

Porno's alrite...although it drags on a bit...and it's definately not about heroin...

That's right, it's not about heroin, read Burrough's junkie, if you want to learn basics of opiate addiction. It's about quitting, learning and about life and money, friends, fooling story of relationship... (sorry about editing)
