Ok I first and can honestly say I do indeed have a form of tourrette's syndrome. Mine is one in which my head tics and my arms and legs move randomly but usually klonopin takes care of it. But I did notice certain strains of MJ make the tics flare up and it could be I smoked to much as well. Any one else have a take on this statement?

I'm interested in knowing about the specific strains that effect your tourettes syndrome.

My step brother has tourettes, he excessively clears his throat and while some strains bring it out more, there are other strains that make it a lot more manageable for him. I can't think of any he really enjoys off the top of my head right now, but really it's personal preference and what works best for YOU. If you have access to several different strains, find a few that work for you. If you don't live a medical state and you have to take whatever weed you get your hands on, you have to decide if the other benefits are worth the chance of your tics flaring up. Maybe buy a little bit, smoke a tiny amount and see how you feel, then if you like it get more if it's not too much of a hassle. On the black market, I'm sure you understand a lot of strains you get probably aren't what your dealer says they are, so unless you are really confident about your source you're always going to be taking a risk.

Interesting...I have fairly severe Tourettes, and it seems weed in general calms and/or eliminates tics for me. I don't really tend to know strain names, but I can at least tell indica and sativa strains apart, and indica definitely seems to have a stronger, longer-lasting effect on the tics (which is slightly unfortunate for me, since I much prefer a sativa high).

I was never medicated for Tourettes - when I was a kid my family thought I was just trying to annoy them, since (with a LOT of willpower) I could stop for a while. I only learned weed has an effect last year when I moved out of home (I'm in my early 20s) - grew up pretty sheltered.

Honestly I probably wouldn't even smoke if it didn't help - that's the biggest reason I started in the first place. I much prefer to have a bad habit than tics. Bear in mind, if left alone, mine get bad enough so I regularly end up hurting myself (or others) by smacking into things...
