Toning arms and boobs.. er, Pecs

As with any exercise, consistency is the one of the biggest factors.

You might see some improvements early after a week or 2, then a longer plateau, but if you can form a routine (that changes every so often) you'll be primed in a few months.

800 cals per hour is better than cycling...I think I'll work in some running too.

Of course, cycling on a road bike/mountain bike up a steep decent for an hour might compete with running (probably higher), but most of us don't climb summits for an hour unless they are trying to ascend a mountain :)

Of course, changing your name by deed poll to Lance Armstrong may help.

you will find that the most efficient way to get the toned look is to lose some bodyfat.

very true. Between spinning, squash and running....I think I'm going to run a bit more than squash .....I dunno running just makes me feel like my heart is gonna burst out of my chest in a GOOD way ya know what I mean?

Just thought Id add the word toning is a bit of a myth.

You can do 2 things

Lose or gain muscle
Lose of gain fat

Nothing else, if you want to look toned (better definition) you need to decrease body fat. You could be the strongest guy in the world and have loads of fat and you wouldnt have any defintion Another common myth is spot fat reduction. The way your body works is you will lose fat from all over, you can't lose it from one spot. If you do weights and no cardio you will build muscle and look thicker and be just as flabby.

The quickest way to reach your goal would be to take up running/swimming/rowing and go hard and lose some weight, then if you don't have much muscle and your arms chest looks overly skinny you can get into the weights to thicken up a bit without losing the defintion.

12 months is more than enough. Just make sure you make a healthier lifestyle change, and you should notice steady fat loss.

Thanks all :)

For the benefit of those who haven't read the whole thread..... It's 7 months since I originally posted this, and I've lost a total of 12.4kg since then. Wasn't really looking for fat loss tips since I had that covered, and the evidence is now apparent ;)... moreso toning exercises to compliment it. Cheers though.
