I'm very well acquainted with the withdrawals from venlafaxine, yet even though I am on the XR version I am starting to feel them even in between doses.

Is it possible to build a tolerance towards this stuff?

It's possible to build up a tolerance to virtually everything, and yes you can with venlafaxine.

When this is the case they usually will raise your dose until it starts getting too high and then consider other options.

^^ I thought this was probably the case, but was reassured by my psychiatrist it doesn't happen! I thought I would just check my suspicions on here...

ahh god I want to get off it too... the only thing it does really is take the withdrawals away... it really sucks!

Usually an SSRI is used such as lexapro is prescribed. I take venflax for nerve pain in my back and anxiety. The good and bad thing is that it has a short half life. So you can taper quicker as it doesnt stay in your system and your body will achieve homeostasis much faster. The bad thing is that missing even a single dose can cause WD's. I missed 2 days and could feel the WD. Exercising will help as it produces Seratonin and Dopemine. Eat a lot of protein rich foods, chicken, protein shakes, etc. You're neurotransmitters will rebuild faster with protein.

I used tramadol every day for over 4 months (100mg-200mg/day) which is an SNRI very similar to Effexor.
I tapered off it in less than 2 weeks without any w/d using valium. maybe your dr will be nice to u & let u take valium for just a few weeks. obviously u dont want another dependency but it takes longer than a few weeks to get hooked to valium
