Todays music is just missing the flow. Such as music from the 60's, 70's and 90's. What ever happened to music with flow to it ?

That's a big question, but for a start :
1) Auto tempo devices or plug-ins during recording/mixing/mastering
2) Auto tune devices or plugins during recording/mixing/mastering
3) Over reliance on sampling

These lead to the predominance of music which touches the "uncanny valley" of music perception since it is faultless instead of having a human feel and sound.

The sound of the cymbals spinning your body around and also other stuff like electronic distortion, rhythm of sound and lyrics along with psychotropic illusion. Basically music that just flys at you and takes your body for a ride.

What are you talking about? There is still music with flow being made.

Maybe you're just pissed off about the stupid pop music which has been around for decades and is still getting even more efficient i.e annoying. There is other music as you know.

Those used to analogue music like tapes (the big ones), records and casettes (inc videotapes) and the switch to digital, a decision probably based on money/ industrie not about a evolution of sound recording. It made it eassier but was a step back in quality of the sound (the carrier also a disaster/ cd/ dvd, they wear and tear within a few years if u not super safe). And distanced the user from the proces, 'well I am digital so I ll take things out of your hands' sort of thing happened. Like having to program your own computer that later evolved in the computering reprogramming you. And programs you just bought.

Analogue is the whole range of sounds like a sloping hill. Digital is the stair they carved out of the hill. You don't miss the parts cut out. But they where there. Same goes with anlologue vs digital, you loose a lot even if you would make the best copy of a analogue recording. Luckily most human have ears, but cannot hear.

@Mjäll is right though, good music with flow is still around maybe not on the radio. But check one of Bluelights music threads and you'll know there still people, not copycats, that produce with flow. Even like in the 60/ 70-ties, using real analogue equipement. They are harder to find with the overwhelming ammount of music, of which maybe 90 % is crap.

Mods feel free to move if inappropriate, to the thread of your choice. 👀

Time's change. People like different flows. The flowing Metamorphosis ebbing with the technology of the times. This has a simple, Hispanic flow to me nothing fancy about it but it flows for me funny had it pulled up then read this.

I could probably make a whole list of modern flows next time I turn on XM radio anyways FM plays all those flowing classics still too lol.

This was posted 11 months ago, what missing flow are you meaning ?
Define flow. Atm music reaches all time dephts and the highest regions of flow.

Depending how one interprets flow, but i like IGIKAI better.
Its kinda like Japanese for flow but broader,

A suggestion for a working definition of flow in music:
It is the relationship of pitch and meter in the performance of a piece of music; and how it is perceived and felt by both performer and listeners.
We handle different defenitions, though concerning text s, instruments and how its perceived.

Also handle different levels. The basis flow, but now a days listnening to good music, Its often obvious flow in music. Example HipHop/ Grime, it also extensive thinking and lots of blood sweat and tears. Same for the instrumental part.
The ammount of word s in a minute stiil going up so.

Also videos way more options but making also time for re-thinking.
I don t know which is the best balance, but afaik we haven t peaked yet.
TR-808 and a Commodore 64 wasn t so long ago, so wonder where heading.

Playing for change got good flow.

You are into guitars so must know 21 pilots,
mind that i missed a part of the world that kept spinnin.
So found it way later. This is IMO flow captured on video.
