Heroin to cook or not to cook (your dope)

i was just wondering whether the majority of heroin users cook their dope in the spoon or not. if so what are the benefits besides dissolving the dope more quickly?
i was wondering because i watched pulp fiction the other day. there is a scene after he picks up his bag of dope of off of the long haired white dealer in south central L.A, he fixes while cruising down the bloody freeway, putting heat to the spoon till the mix bubbles. just about every other movie with shooting up scenes also show users giving their fix heat. i dont do it and most people who i know that use too (not very many) don't either.i'm paranoid it could kill and waste the dope. maybe they do it in the movies because it looks bloody dramatic and kind of cool, and most of the time if a movie shows that shite it's meant to be dramatic and shocking.
if you think this is a not a worthy topic, (i foresee some BL vets somehow being offended by the inanity of my question) dont waste your time by reading and responding to this (i think i just asked for criticism right there).
the dope i use is found in sydney, generally your brownish, greyish or white powder or soft rocky stuff. is there any important reason to cook your dope?

ps , yes they are just movies and aren't accurate, for example, 3 or 4 scenes later theer's the adrenaline hypo through breast plate to the heart is not to my knowledgfe exactly the simplist way to reverse an od or deliver an injection.
 
Heroin is very soluble in cold water and any heating would likely only dissolve adulterants.

Make sure your H is a fine powder before dissolving.

Easiest and fastest way to reverse opiate overdose would be intramuscular injection of naloxone.

hey thanx for the speedy response,
in regards to heat dissolving adulterants, wouldn't it be better if they stay undissolved, therefore making them more likely to be caught in the filter instead of being drawn up? if that's the case, it's better not to heat your mix at all
 
I'm not an IV user, but almost all of the people I know who do dope shoot it, and not one of them cooks their dope.
 
some tar will simply not dissolve if it's not heated. i went on a binge 2 weeks ago and some of the tar i was getting was absolute rock-solid hardness (i couldn't break it apart with my fingers), so i had to heat that shit way more than i ever would imagine. heating your solution will only dissolve insolubles that you do NOT want...
 
i've found it depends on the dope, if you get scramble you normally need to cook it if you don't dissolve the cutting agents it will sometimes even clog your filter. if it's true raw though you don't need to cook it unless you're trying to fit alot into a single shot or your dealer has stepped on the raw too much in which case find a new connect. as for tar you usually need to cook that to break it down cuz it's so compressed.
