Tips/Tricks/Secrets and Whatnot for Health.

what is health to you? bodybuilders can be incredibly healthy (smart ones are). when someone's trying to build muscle, it presupposes being healthy or it is misguided at best, dangerous at worse.

i think i mostly just wanted to say that because the yoga is lazy comment annoyed me a bit. i think anyone with more than a passing interest in health/wellness will agree that 'health' means different things to different people. to me being healthy means living your life in a way that makes you happy, finding balance and strength in mind body and soul that will leave you fulfilled. while i do some weight training, i spend a lot more time meditating or doing yoga, because that is more important to my ideal vision of health for myself. i don't think yoga is lazy - i actually think it is quite challenging. like any kind of training it takes patience and dedication. it's not going to get you ripped, but it is about a different kind of transformation. i guess what i'm trying to say is that i think it's kind of short-sighted to call someone lazy because they choose a different path to wellness than you.

is sitting in silent meditation lazy? if it's so easy try meditating for an hour every day for a month, and then try to tell me it's not challenging. i think we can all agree that mind body and spirit are all connected, and none should be neglected when striving for optimal health. but everybody can choose different paths working in different areas, and the best is what works for you. personally i get more out of meditating every day than lifting weights every day, and i don't think that makes me lazy.

Health is a very general term but your body running at an optimal level both in nutrients and in excercise.

A 'healthy' car is one that has its oil topped up/changed regularly, and isnt thrashed. Same goes for the body imo.

I agree with spiritual, mental, and physical health. NA keeps my spirit healthy, school and education keeps my mind healthy, and strength training for my body. I regard it as "the trinity of complete health". all three parts work in tandem and if one is lacking, it can show in the other aspects. when I feel happy and serene, my lifts are better. when I'm lifting well and serene I am happy, when I am happy and lifting well, I am serene.
also for me lifting can be spiritual and like a form of meditation. it allows me release into something else, and allows me to center myself, focusing on every muscle as it extends or contracts. I incorporate posing (bodybuilding poses) in the lifting category. looking in the mirror and mastering the ability to flex each individual group of muscles is very relaxing and rewarding.

i'm similar, but don't really see any reason to distinguish "spiritual"(which i'd personally interpret as "philosophical" because am atheist but you know what i mean) from "mental". strong mind + strong body = healthy.

I'm an atheist as well. its hard for me to explain to someone the difference of spiritual and mental health. I can best describe it as a general contentness and inner peace. I can be happy but feel "off" spiritually. or I can be having a shit day, in an awful mood, but I still feel "centered". spirituality for me is feeling whole and complete, while mental health is more along the lines of emotions and sanity lol.

Coconut oil. You can consume it (for the healthy fats) and it also does wonders for your hair/skin. It's also natural and cheap!

Healthy fats optimize hormone production and can actually speed metabolism, which can equal weight loss.

A QUALITY butter is not bad for health.

Self-rendered lard is one of the highest sources of omegas you can find.

Waiting an hour after workouts to eat anything will maximize HGH response/levels. Don't listen to the supplement companies!

Minimize carb intake an hour before bed. Carbs spike insulin. When insulin is high, HGH is put of the backburner. Your body produces most of it's HGH for the day in the first hour of sleep. <-- Hence, eating a lot of carbs before bed will cause you to go to bed with an insulin spike, drastically reducing your natural HGH potential.

The only supplements you need to be buying are: QUALITY creatine, QUALITY protein, and a pre-workout that works for you (if you like them, I like Jack3d). These are the only things proven to work. Don't be the dumbass who buys some herb thinking it's going to increase your testosterone. <-- Eating proper amounts of healthy fats are PROVEN to increase test levels (assuming we're staying natural and not using prohormones, of course.) <-- Of course, get your vitamins and omegas of course, I really don't consider those "supplements"

Focus on getting your diet in check before you look to a magic pill to make you huge. (In my opinion, the whole NO thing is just a marketing ploy for supp. companies. It may make you more vascular during your workout, but I believe what little (if any) effects are achieved that they are lost after your workout.
