Ok so i relapsed 2 nights ago using meth. Before that i was clean 3 months and then 5 months before that.
Ive realised everytime i end up using it is when im under the effect of alochol. So its time for me to quit the booze. Just wondering if anyone else has this problem Of using under the influence of booze? And if anyone could give me some advice on how to stop drinking. At 23 years old all my mates want to do is drink especially after work on a friday i just find it so hard to say no because i feel like im being antisocial...

Thanks in advance

yes, i've had that problem. i'd just be drinking along, decide to smoke a joint, decide to drop a few vicodin... and it's the same for me, i'm twenty and nobody knows how to do anything but smoke and drink :\ honestly though, staying away from people who drink helps during the first bit of time, but that only worked so long for me. going to na (narcotics anonymous) has helped, there's also alcoholics anonymous, cocaine anonymous etc. like they say in na, alcohol IS a drug, and another thing they say is that you have to change your "playmates and your playgrounds". hope this helps

You do have the option of becoming a moderate drinker. I have not had precisely the same experience of being tempted to use other drugs when drunk, but I have a temptation to get drunk. I don't want to be a teetotaller because that would make people pay more attention to me than I'm comfortable. I also don't want to be the drunk guy for the same reason haha.

So I drink in moderation. I drink one or two beers in social settings and allow myself to get drunk on rare, special occasions (as in I have not gotten drunk in about two months now, which is when I started seriously getting clean).

Drinking lowers your inhibitions, so yes there have been times when I'm drunk I just gotta run out at midnight smashed with my saved up cash to grab some weed/coke/pills.

Until I learned if I drank a ton more I just passed out and had no ability to get anything. But that's another story.

my dad did meth and used alcohol to sleep quit meth and continued to drink for a few years then quit alcohol a few years after that had back problems and has been hooked on pain killers ever since which has been his longest lasting addiction with no signs of an end you should stay away from all drugs is kinda my point

^that's kind of like ''just say no to drugs".

alcohol used to make me crave other drugs. It is hard to quit drinking when everyone around you drinks. I used to be a binge drinker mostly and no other drug has caused me so many problems. I haven't drank in years now though and i don't really find it inhibits me socially, i'd rather not hang out with drunk people anyway. You can have fun, have friends and do social things without drinking, although this may require only hanging out with friends in certain situations or finding new friends. If sobriety and being healthy are your priorities then it may be worth thinking about.
