Not sure if this has been asked or not but here goes anyhow.

Does anyone ever get jerky movement in their hands/ arms/ legs etc, when you've taken large amounts of opiates? It's kind of like ticks. Its definitely involuntary.

Yes ...

When I would pick up again after a long time and use too much, or use way more than I was accustomed to beyond my tolerance. For me I think it was a mini overdose, beginning of seizure that didn't quite happen.. my body reacting to the drug. Not that there are not other implications involved to cause the sx you describe.

Well that's almost what it feels like for me also. I've had 2 other seizures in the past. It comes from a condition called PRES (google it. Its more or less blood pressure induced swelling of the brain) And I guess I could say that I've used more in the past few days than I do most normal days. But I thought my PRES is under control as long as my blood pressure is stable, and it doesn't seem like it's been up recently. Not anymore so than normal

I just looked it up, it involves high blood pressure (?). Opiates can affect blood pressure. If anything I think they would lower it though. I would say it's just the drugs, but can't be absolutely sure.
Yeah, It could be build up in your system of opiates over the few days. At least for me … I would have the ticks and jerky movement only at night. That was when I used more, and when most dope would be accumulated. Hopefully it's not your PRES then. Can you check your bp somehow to rule that out? Although it could be altered right now.

Yeah I would have also thought it would have lowered it. I'll check it in the am when I get up. My bp machine is in a closet and dont feel much like digging to find it right now lol. Obviously if it starts feeling to weird in the meantime I'll pull it out.

Just yesterday someone asked the same type of question weird.

There are many possible reasons your body is doing this. When did this start happening?

Could be anxiety that's what first comes to mind. Your not alone many suffer from violent tremers and spasms while high on dope.

Another thing it could be is some damage from Years of IV drug use in which case I suggest you go to a doctor. You could have hit arteries and/or damaged nerves .

There is actually a known condition called Myoclonus which causes your symptoms and has been shown to come from opiates. Myoclonus occasionally occurs in patients taking chronic opioids. It appears to be dose related and seems to come in a unpredictable manner. It seems to be defined as the occurrence of a series of neuromuscular disturbances probably sharing final common pathways. A neuroexcitatory opioid metabolite accumulation has been proposed to have a possible role in determining myoclonus but still not much is known about the condition/side effect. Benzos have been shown to help but dont start popping benzos you'll kill yourself it has to be during medical supervision. When this happens in the medical field the Current practice suggests a change in opioid when pain control is only controlled with high opioid doses resulting in unacceptable adverse effects, including myoclonus and hyperalgesia. A change in the type of opioid may be useful in patients who develop severe central adverse effects such as you.
This can come from any opioid really even methadone and Suboxone users report these adverse effects

If it doesn't bother you too much I doubt your in Any real danger. If it is and seems to be getting worse then go get checked out.

That's tons of insight, thank you. I am not sure it is anxiety only because I'm more normal/calm when I'm high. And I usually have no concerns/fears of over doing it or being caught ect. And I also dont have years of use under my belt. I have been an addict for 8 yrs but have only been IVing about 6 months.

yeah, lots of times actually. For me it had nothing to do with overdose or anxiety., Though since its connected with opiates it is only logical it might get worse if you use more. But anyway for example my hand would just twitch or I would be holding something... I did research it a bit but unfortunately forgot exactly what I found out but I think (this is my experience, its not to say for you its not something more serious, like a foretelling of a seizure) It was something at least partly about vitamin B deficiency and vit. B supplement stopped it for me. Perhaps vit D and magnezium would also help as all of those are connected with muscle spasms and twitches. But still get your blood pres. checked (or whatever is connected in your case with seizures) if youve had previous problems.

Who knows how exactly opiates affect metabolism and I dont remember right now anymore what it was about but I think It was something about vitamin B deficiency and vit. Thank you!! I have crohns and therefore vit b deficient. .I'll go out and get all the above today.

Happened to me all the time after 2 years of IV H use. Did oxy for 5 years before that and never got any tics but the H made me get really weird after a while. I used to crack my neck like 50 times a night too. I felt awesome though.
