Hi all,

Does anyone know which of these drugs might impair cognitive function the least?

I have some sort of pain/spasm problem in conjunction with ADD. The Dex amphetamine which I use in a low dose (10mg-15mg) is great for the ADD but makes the pain/spasm problem worse. It may well me anxiety or stress related but honestly I have no idea.

So I'm wondering which of these drugs may work best in conjunction with the Dex. Which ones would be most similar in action/effect to benzos?

I'm not that keen on trying anti psychotics which have also been suggested but I would be interested to know if there are any that are relatively well tolerated?

Cheers

Alex

I can never remeber which one of those drugs is which

Tiagabine is the uptake inhibitor

Vigabatrin inhibits GABA-T

Pregabalin is the gabapentin analog, that fucks with calcium channels.

Classical pharmacology should tell you that Vigabatrin is the most similar to benzos...

Pregabalin is still pretty new; I don't know how well tolerated it is on the whole; though I know gabapentin has aggression listed as one of its side effects (sounds like an odd mix with stimulants).

From my experience, Pregabalin and Tiagabine give exactly the same effect, I couldn't tell the difference between the two...

It's really strange that they sound so different from the description you give...

As tiagabine is an inhibitor would it also be similar to benzo's?

If I understand correctly what I have read on pubmed leads me to understand that it is stronger that any of the others.

From my personal experience, Pregabalin or Tiagabine don't feel like benzo.

Benzos are very relaxing, especially for the muscles, Tiagabine & Pregabalin don't have this effect.

Benzos make you feel sedated, Tiagabine & Pregabalin don't, but they can still put you to sleep, but you don't feel sleepy at all (and no hangover the following morning)

Benzos, Tiagabine & Pregabalin all give you very effective anti-anxiety effects, but it's not the same kind of anti-anxiety.
With Tiagabine & Pregabalin, you feel 'out of it'... It's a strange feeling, nothing like benzos...

Tiagabine & Pregabalin, at semi-recreational dosage give you a slight unpleasant vertigo... Benzos dont...

The only common effect they all have is that they can make you black out completely...

*shrug* I've never used any of them, this is just the information available to me.
