Three Months to Reduce Amphetamine Tolerance

I have been prescribed 70mg Vyvanse for about nine months now and only use it during the school year. I have about three months to reduce my tolerance before returning and would appreciate some suggestions other that just waiting for the tolerance to go away on its own. I have tried small doses of DXM with small but noticeable success. Any suggestions?

Simply stopping using it would be the most effective, 3 months is a decent amount of time to take a break.

Could also try using Magnesium supplements, and Piracetam.

I have a bunch of Piracetam but haven't heard of it helping with tolerance. I have heard that mixing it with amphetamine can actually increase tolerance if they are used at the same time. I have heard of magnesium supplements but I can't find anything other than magnesium oxide.

Yeah. Amphets arent the kind of drug you can reduce your tolerance to magically. In fact...pretty much NO drug is like that. Otherwise we'd all still be getting messed up on 5mg of Vicodin like we did when we were 18. Look....

Your idea of using DXM is smart. It's an NMDA antagonist so you think it's going to help you. Unfortunately, you can't really take that much DXM without robotripping. You can't take ketamine, you can't take PCP or laughing gas. You could keep on drinking decent amounts of Tussin for the whole 3 months, but I honestly don't think it's going to matter. I know you don't want to hear it but the only thing that's going to help lower your tolerance is to wait.

Just drink a lot of cranberry juice, eat some TUMS (calcium carbonate might help prevent its absorption if youre still taking it), take a lot of B vitamin supplements. That will help increase your metabolism and flush it out of your system. Once it out though...all you can really do is wait. Do you still plan on taking it during the summer or something?

I don't plan on taking any amphetamine for the next three months. Will that alone be enough to significantly reduce my tolerance?

Having the same conversation in this thread:

The magnesium supplement you want is calcium magnesium or magnesium citrate. You should be able to find it easily at a healthfood store, vitamin shop, drugstore, or order it online.

NMDA antagonists are supposed to be helpful in reducing tolerance.

If you have 3 months to lower your tolerance then I'd advise just going a few days without taking the Vyvanse every week or two, that seems to work well for most people.

EDIT: If you're going to stop taking it for the whole 3 months that should definitely decrease/reset your tolerance.

So does anyone think taking DXM throughout the summer would help speed up the process or assure a tolerance reset?

For lowering opiate tolerance, I might suggest low-doses of DXM, but I would not be so inclined in your case for a few reasons. If you were to do a daily regimen of DXM, you would want to use a very low dose, as DXM is potentially neurotoxic and 90 days is a while even if you are a taking a dose you cannot "feel". But, I do not see it helping that much with amphetamine tolerance, and I think it could backfire because of the constant activity DXM would be causing with your dopamine and serotonin levels, even at a very low dose. I would frankly advise to steer clear of it completely, I just don't see it benefiting you over other methods. The number one thing to do for amphetamine tolerance and protection of neurotoxicity is abstaining from amphetamines including MDMA, as many people forget it is an amphetamine. Other than that I would most certainly suggest magnesium as a supplement. It should help. Nine months is not a short time to be on amphetamines, but a three-month break should allow the amphetamines to do their job much better come the beginning of fall.

Thank you everyone for the responses, I really appreciate the help. I plan on simply waiting the three months to see how that works out.
