Thoughts about death.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this so please feel to move or merge.

Well I want to ask a few questions, share my thoughts and hopefully get some feedback from other bluelighters.


1)Are you afraid of death?

2)Do you belief in after-life? Whether it be re-incarnation or heaven like.

3)How would you like to be remembered?


1) Yes and no. While not wanting to die soon, I understand that inevitably we will all die. I guess apathy towards the whole concept is a good way to describe how I feel.

2)Being atheist I believe there is no after life, no heaven or hell. We die and thats it.

3)Maybe an odd response to my own question. I'm not sure if I want to be remembered at all, being atheist and believing in no after-life part of me hopes that when I die people wont mourn or be saddened by my death.

Hope to get some good responses.
 
All good questions but this would be better suited for the Philosophy and Spirituality forum so I will move it there for you where you will be able to pursue the discussion. Before I move it, here's my answers:

Not as a saint, regardless of what I accomplish. If I end up creating world peace or some this I still would never want to be regarded as a saint or any better of a person than your common rapist or violent thief.
 
1)Are you afraid of death? i'm afraid of dying before doing the things i want to do, like have a family.

2)Do you belief in after-life? Whether it be re-incarnation or heaven like. not sure; i identify as agnostic. if there is an afterlife, i think it's definitely not like what's written in religious texts. i was watching something on the history channel and someone being interviewed (a scientist or researcher or something) believed that our energy is expelled into the universe and i thought that was a really beautiful thought.

3)How would you like to be remembered? i don't really care - this is for my family to consider since funerals are for the bereaved, but i would like to be buried under a tree or in some eco-consciously way have my body committed to the earth so that it can nourish other life.

concerning your answer to this question, OP: i think not believing in an afterlife is the only reason mourning for a loved one who's died makes sense. in other words, if you believe in heaven and it's this really awesome place, then why aren't you happy for your loved one who's gone there? in contrast, if you don't believe in an afterlife and you feel your loved one is gone for good, feeling sad is totally logical.

Indeed, I would prefer my family/loved ones not waste large amounts of money and time on a funeral or similar rituals. If possible(and legal?...I'm unsure?), just dig a fucking hole and plop me right in :)...Or do whatever, it's not like I'll be able to care. Donate my body to a lonely and horny necrofeliac for all I care.

3. Unsure, I probably won't accomplish anything worth remembering. Also I don't believe in the continuation of humanity so I'd rather everyone died than be remembered by more people, but hey.

Not anymore. Im sure I would be scared if confronted in a situation I knew I was about to die (Natural instinct), but the thought of being dead...that doesn't scare me. If that makes sense :)

I don't believe in it, but I do believe our energy stays. Energy can't "disappear" so I am sure our energy stays in the planet or solar system...

3)How would you like to be remembered?

More difficult..I don't care how I am remembered, I will be dead. But I want family to remember me in a positive way just for their own mind and feelings. I'm already dead :)

Sure, there was life before and there will be life after.

No, I'm not afraid to die.
Yes I believe in life after death. If there is nothing after death then it does not matter what I think, and if there is, I hope it is heaven and not reincarnation. There is no WAY I want to go through all this shit again.
I will be remembered by different people in different ways, and what I want doesn't matter.
 
1. sometimes. my fear is also mixed with an excited anticipation. but usually i don't think about it, so then i do not fear. as mentioned above, i also fear pain and trauma more actually.

2. i like the idea, but there is no need to put belief in here. there is nothing to really base such a belief on.

3. fondly and with little sorrow. oh and as funny. if this is achieved or not won't matter to me when the time comes.

2. I dont know about a heaven but i think it definetly doesn't end like you at least keep living on earth in another body.
3. i dont really care how im remembered but i just want to make everyones life better while im living
 
1) Not really. But at the moment of death i'm sure my internal computer will experience massive tension as it tries to fight against the unstoppable.

2) Death is the end of the body, but something probably continues on afterwards. We may not be aware of it, or perhaps we are. Who knows.

3) With a big fuck off pyramid and tomb full of gold trinkets and jars containing various parts of my body.

yes, basically i feel we leave in a spit-ball of static which is our life forces intention, sub-conscious motives, quirks/habits/body-language, our Prana escapes and will seek what it craves...from the chakra point which represents the individuals stage of life development.

if ones pranic-vibration is the same as whence forth it came, they will make that match and be back in that 'cosmic ocean'. if not you this, the prana descends back to the lowest sought vibration point attributes for mOre.

3)How would you like to be remembered?

I was thinking about death some weeks ago, and was utterly fascinated. It was mind-blowing for me that we can go from such a beautiful state of life into the exact opposite of that. Just imagining the utter and eternal void of death (if that is what it is like) is both fucking awesome and incomprehensible.

Imagine if everyone that has died was given some sort of supreme knowledge of the universe, of life. Every single deceased person is omniscient and is looking at the world thinking-- there is just this one thing that needs to be done to unlock some sort of nirvana-state.

Yes & no

Unlikely - yet in an infinite universe........

I would like to think I wouldn't be remembered for long except by those close to me. I would like to think I could have had some positive effect that others carried forward unconscious from whence it sprang
 
I don't fear death. It's a natural process. I'm an atheist, so I don't believe there's an afterlife. I'd like to be remembered as being an awesome person. Not gonna lie, I'm a bit of a narcissist.
