Hi alexthealien, welcome to BDD!

I don't have Adderall experience so will leave the dosing question up to someone else, but there's recently been a thread with some advice about coping with comedowns - see here - and if you do a search there's a lot of other advice on the site too :)

Edit: Are you asking what other people take in comparison to your own dose? This isn't really the sort of question we deal with in BDD as it just leads to endless discussions, we're more of a quick q&a harm reduction forum, but I may have misunderstood as I'm pretty tired..

for comedowns you can also use pot, alcohol, or benadryl. if you want to combine the benadryl and alcohol, take lower amounts of each. staying well hydrated and trying to eat a little something during the experience can also help reduce the severity of the comedown.

100mg is rather high. are you taking this all at once? while i know people do take dosages like this, tolerance will become an issue one day and you'll find that no matter how much more you take you won't get any added euphoria. maybe try learning to appreciate smaller dosages? you'll actually find that over time you can get good stimulation from lower dosages if you just give your body a chance to adapt to it.

also, maybe try taking some tums 30-45 mins before hand to help potentiate your dose so that you don't have to take as many pills.

I'm pretty familiar with the ol' mixed amphetamine salts (adderall), and I can tell you that 100 mg is a considerably large dose. I cannot fathom taking such a large dose; I think my heart would beat straight out of my chest and into the windshield, the computer monitor, my girlfriend, or... I don't know, whatever may be in front of me at the time. lol ;)

No, but seriously, that's a large dose. I would think that 30 - 40 mg would put most people where they want to be. If that's not you, and you really do need to take 100 mg, well, then you can rest assured that you are most definitely not ADD/ADHD. lol

alexthealien - just edited the title of your thread slightly to clarify what you are asking and help when people use the search function to find threads they want :)

well he's taking the adderall for recreational effects. technically, don't people who have ADD require more adderall in order to achieve a purely recreational time? (due to the fact that a dose of adderall calms most people with ADD down, and then they have to break through that dosage and take more in order to reach the more stimulatory effects? correct me if i'm wrong).

100mg is getting high in your dosage... I take dosages in that range, but I also have a hell of a tolerance and use daily. Probably not where you want to be if you can avoid it...

For the come down... I usually just ride it out. But I find benzo's muscle relaxants and low dosage of quetiapine or olazapine all make it easier to avoid the insomnia and sweating and get some sleep.

Yes, you are exactly right, and now that I'm reading my post over I am not entirely sure what I must have been thinking.

I guess that I imagined someone with ADD/ADHD would notice its working at a typical therapeutical dose. I know that my doctor has told me before that a diagnosis is made based upon whether or not a typical therapeutical dose brings about results, and in my case, taking just 10 mg brought about noticeable, positive effects (the quality of my work improved and I began to get my work in on time). It was explained to me that an individual without ADD/ADHD would not notice very much at all. Hmmm... I don't know, but I think you may be on to something, because I never thought that I had ADD/ADHD anyway. lol

^^
well pretty much anyone will benefit from even small dosages of adderall. i would think that people without ADD could even get by with potentially smaller dosages than an ADD invidual, because they're brain is already functioning at a normal level. when people who don't have ADD take adderall, they become cracked out and turn into machines and just do work for hours and hours (like artificial hyperfocused). people with ADD who take it just feel more "normal" on the medication, and function similar to someone who doesn't have ADD. they can get their work done, but it still requires effort, and the medication just keeps them from getting distracted. they become focused on their work instead of hyper-focused (as hyper-focusing is something we can normally do (without medication) on something that may be really interesting to us, or it could occur randomly as we stare at the wall and hyperfocus on nothing lol).

wow 100mg? all i need is like 40-60mg once a week. ive used mirtzapine for sleep and opiates which give a slight mood boost but didnt put me to sleep. other wise i just eat and drink lots of water. also i try to keep my mind occupied like on the computer.

i have a good amount of adderall experience (i have been prescribed either adderall or ritalin daily for ~19 years now--wow, that's a long time, i just did the math. anyway...). like the other users have said, 100 mg IR seems like a really high dose to me. i'm prescribed 30 mg/day, and even when i have a big project at work or when i used to cram for finals, etc., i don't think i ever really took quite that large an amount--definitely very spread out if i did. i know people who are prescribed very large doses that have been for a while, and some of them take upwards of 90-100mg/day, although i really dont think these people would need such large amounts if they hadnt started massively abusing their medication a long time ago.

anyway, that's not really the answer to your question. adderall never wears off for me it seems like. even when i take my last 10 mg before 2pm, i find myself completely wired in bed at night, long after the beneficial effects have worn off. for me, the only things that have really worked are benzodiazepines mixed with a few standard drinks. be careful if you go that route; becoming dependent on benzos and booze to fall asleep every night is not something to shoot for.
