I just got a message that contained the obituary of our former long time Cannabis Discussion moderator @Thomas Davie

Thomas has been a steady presence on Bluelight the whole time I've been here. He was smart as hell, eccentric, and endlessly friendly. I know that he had been on dialysis and had some other health problems for a long time.

This is a great loss to the site, and although we were not close on a personal level, I find myself pretty sad about this, just due to his kind nature and glowing presence. Condolences to all of his family and loved ones, thank you for everything Thomas 💗🙏

this is sad.
i never had any direct interaction with him, but i read some of his posts that left a positive impression.

I was really hoping that this isn't him, but the name, province, mention of dialysis + love of animals, and professional background all match things that Tom regularly discussed on here.

Tom was an incredibly sweet, kind-hearted, and intelligent person.
He was extremely selfless and compassionate.
He was strongly devoted to his pets (a few cats if I recall correctly) and cared deeply about the events going on in the world around him - he specifically held a lot of compassion for the victims of the ongoing War in Ukraine.

One unique quality I remember about him that is unfortunately not too common nowadays is that he loved to give away electronics he no longer needed instead of throwing them away or selling them, so that others could give them a new life.
I still regularly use a Kobo e-reader that he mailed me a couple of years ago.

We only talked a handful of times throughout our years on staff together, and I regret not making more of an effort to get to know him.

Rest in Peace Tom <3

Hi. I remember you. I miss you. I'm sorry.💚 :weedleaf:💚

Thank you for being in the cannabis forum.

It meant a lot. I appreciate that so much.

I will remember you. Say hello to God's cannabis too.

Oh, I don't know .. this is very sad. I can see you are missed

very much. Thank you.

Oh man he will be missed. God bless, RIP Thomas.

RIP Thomas. You were a beacon of knowledge in the cannabis community here and you were a joy to work with. The harm reduction community has lost a long loved pillar, I hope your lasting knowledge here will continue to guide generations to come. Keep enjoying that good herb and hash wherever you are friend. Rest easy ❤

My sympathy goes out to those who were close to him.
Cannabis Discussion was better off because he was a mod there.
He was willing to let me work that forum with him. Just never happened.
May the next adventure find you well.

Damn… I don’t have my computer at hand so I can’t write much but I’ll just say I loved Tom.

He sent me all his old Stargate SG-1 dvds when he move to the country and didn’t have space anymore. No request for cash. Just mailed them with love…

One less person who I actually knew their name and they knew mine… far too many are gone and this loss feels especially strong.

I’ll miss you Tom. Hope you’re pain free and your cats are okay and that your smoking some hash in heaven right now, happy as a clam ❤️

Another sad loss. He seemed to have so many different interests and a vibrant home life even though his health held him back. He will be missed, RIP.

I know I'm late to the party here....

Cream Gravy? was kind enough to break the news to me.

TD was one of my absolute favorite people on this site to talk to. He was a friend that slowly turned into a bit of a role model, a mentor, though I never told him that.

He was the only one I gave my email and social info to when I stepped away. He never used them.... but I tried to get in touch over and over again when Civilization 7 released.

I never reached him. He never responded.

At least now I know why.

Fucking hell, man.....

❤️❤️❤️
