Heroin Think I just found some heroin!

Ok so I'm on my way back from the pharmacy just picked up some vicodin(sinalgen) when I see a zip-lock bag with some brown powder as I exit the elevator on my floor.

So after sneakily bringing it with me for a closer look I'm very confused.

- It looks like a brown powder but it doesn't smell very chemically at all but at the same time it has a weird distinct smell that I can't really figure out.

- I highly doubt these bags would be used for anything else and besides isn't colombian heroin meant to be brown powder?(I'm in Colombia)


Is there anyway to find out wether or not this is heroin?

threads like this generally aren't allowed cuz we have no way of telling you or finding out what it is unless you have access to a lab of some sort.

if anyone tells you to try some of it that is against what this site is about *harm reduction* either toss it or get it tested (only if you know the person well, it wouldn't be good to have an unknown lab tech tell you that you have brought in heroin to get tested lol)
 
HMM I realize that there's no definite way of finding out but maybe there are some tricks which could help me a bit.

I guess I'll just try taking a bit but would prefer to do some checks before.
 
burn it gently on some foil and smell the fumes. do you know what heroin smells like?
 
Beyond specific testing there is no way to know for sure what it is. This would need to be done prefereably in a laboratory, but you could also use a Marquis reagent test to get a better idea. A google search will show tons of places where these are available.

We don't generally allow these types of threads since its just speculation and without testing there isn't any way to know for sure (so there is a lot of potential for it to be dangerous.) I'm going to go ahead and close it, please PM me if you have concerns about this.
