Yeah I've read the other threads on TLC and was wondering wether someone had come up with something. The thread was meant to be a sort of chemistry buffs/student unite thing. Its amazing how much effort and research some people will put into a bulberator and yet only one reply to finding an improved testing method. A friend of mine thinks that if the ideal solvent combo can be found that it wouldn't be to much of an ask for most people if they really wanted more accurate results. He even thinks it might compete with the reagent testers as the additional cost is negligible.
At the moment I'm thinking of a chloroform/ethanol solvent mixture but I can't trial the ratios as I don't have access to a lab or mdxx substances. I also thought possibly thought a combo of isopropyl ether and acetic acid (or any mild acid) to protonate the amide groups. Like I said if there are any chemistry buffs or perhaps you've access to a lab ( not just student type access, don't go risk your enrolment), give us your thoughts, even if its just pointing me in another direction. Cheers
