I believe that a person should be judged on the consequences of their actions, not the actions themselves.

I believe that happiness is a chosen state of mind that we can turn on any time we choose.

I believe war is unfortunate but most likely an inevitable consequence of the Conflict that freedom enables.

I believe in truth, in evidence, in what is in front of me, the real world and nothing more.

I believe that understanding the fact that love is simply a chemical reaction does not make it any less beautiful.

I believe good and evil are constructs of mankind and open to interpretation and debate.

I believe there is no need to conceive of a god to have a sense of wonder and place in the universe.

I believe that when I die there will be nothing left of my self but a pile of unconscious atoms, and that's ok.

These things I believe.

I mostly agree, except for a few points, but I have a feeling this thread wasn't meant to argue moral ambiguity. Therefore, I believe:

This world is a perception of our senses.

War is the ideals of the ignorant conflicting.

Knowledge is, in fact, the most powerful tool.

You will never understand people, truly, no matter how deeply you know them.

Many people believe they are "the shit." In actuality, they are not "the shit." Everyone wants to be special and make their mark on this world, however, look back in history. In the textbooks, they only mention the greats: Caesar, Napoleon, Ghandi, etc. Think of all the people that had to make the system work for those people to achieve greatness. Countless people had to till the land to make the crops to keep the great leaders alive. Most people think they are going to amount to greatness, when in actuality, they will only be a cog in the system.

Everyone is trying to coexist as peacefully as possible with as fewest conflicts as possible with as many abstract thoughts as possible running through their minds.

I was actually going to include something about knowledge as you mentioned but cut it out for some reason.

As you said I wasnt really hoping to create debate, but simply put down some core ideas that I find myself going back to. Ideas that help me and shape who I am.

My ideas on these things are not concrete as I know they have changed as I have grown through life. I am always open to new ideas and re-thinks of my beliefs. To not do so would be stuborn and ignorant.
