Based on personal experience my substance use began as a means to fill a void in my life. Something my parents were unable to do for me. Although I am certain I had a mood disorder at a young age, mental illness did not manifest itself until after long-term use of MDA. What prompts people to like me to use drugs in the first place? Was I naturally dissatisfied with life that sought ways to become more informed. The truth is sought enlightenment and power…I wanted an edge over people, to take advantage of a situation for prosperity’s sake. I wanted a shortcut to paradise.
However, I know now enlightenment is not about taking, it is having the ability to make choices without fear or restitution for decisions made. if me having a mental illness was a precursor to life as I understand it today it was worth the pain and indecision i endured a lifetime ago. All you need is love.

For sure.

I started regularly drinking age
11 and honestly all my life I’ve been either taking a substance, being reckless with sex or gambling.

I can’t feel normal emotions the right way like other people do and I just long to feel those emotions even if it’s just for those four hours.

Very few people I know that use substances don’t have mental health problems.

Some weed smokers perhaps but even that’s debatable.
