So, for some time I was under the impression that thebaine was very unlike other opiates in its effect, so I figured its prescence in poppy pod tea or opium might only result in a bit more stimulation, but now I read that oripavine (thebaine's major metabolite) is quite like a normal opiate in its action. I guess my question is are opium or poppy pod tea consumers feeling the effects of this oripavine or are the amounts negligible or what? I am confused, and would like to know more on oripavine.

Then why are the effects longer than those of morphine and codeine, that is what I wonder.

Opium definitely more stimulating than just morphine. Really it depends on the type of opium/pod you got. Indochinese opium can have a thebaine content of 5%, while Turkish opium has almost no thebaine.

Thebaine in larger doses is a convulsant poison-it acts as an antagonist of glycine receptors, like strychnine and tutin do, although like strychnine in smaller doses it should be useable as a stimulant. My guess is that its likely responsible as the reason why pod tea is more stimulating by far than morphine or codeine on their own.

Interestingly enough, strychnine was used in the smokable heroin pills and #3 heroin. It started out as 1/4 the weight of heroin, over time it dropped to .5%. I wonder if they were trying to replicate opium?
