"The Worlds Most Dangerous Drug" on National Geographic Channel

A dangerous drug (as in illicit...no need to mention alcohol or nicotine, as they will forever be legal on this earth, so you can't bitch about those "drugs") is a drug with high relapse rates, high addiction potential, etc (basically a drug with the most amount of adverse effects due to abusing that certain drug.) Meth does have many of those characteristics. I also find the pictures of before and after, solid evidence for the meth-haters. Not many other drugs can destroy your body (in particular, face) like that FOREVER...

Most dangerous is a stretch however it is not far from being most dangerous (out of all the recreational substances us BL'ers enjoy)...Most dangerous would probably be something like the "fent mixed w/ H", etc (something that could actually kill you even first time trying it).

Point is...its hard for "some" users to safely monitor and control their meth use. Thats why the media is making such a big deal about it.

Just some thoughts....

While I agree with you chubba isn't stupid, just misguided and biased. It would be more beneficial to explain to these people why they are wrong than name calling. I would probably wrongly assume a drug is evil if I couldn't stop doing it... but of course at the end of the day no drug is evil, we choose what to ingest into our bodies and people like chubba have a hard time accepting that they caused their own problems.

I'm probably going to get attacked here, but anyway...Meth has very few OD deaths attributed to it. At the same time the relapse rate is extremely high. I have a % in mind but don't want to quote it and have to find the source. Suffice to say it's high as fuck and you can find it just as easy as me.
The ones that do go to the hospital usually do something to attract attention to themselves and have transport arranged. Few of them die from meth and the smart ones know (not to do dumb shit in public) that their body temperature is going through the roof & an ice cold shower is in order immediately. Works very well unless one REALLY fucked up.
I'm actually not for or against meth. I was in California when it was eating the bay area alive. Everyone was on "wire" (as I heard it called), or was getting off it fondly recalling the days. I've also seen 5 to 18 day runs where some poor mess falls over on in a garbage can on the sidewalk or slobbers his way to the end of the busline passed out for real and the driver has to call the pigs if someone won't drag him off. I have helped a few, but it's actually fairly dangerous to fuck with tweekers when they don't know who you are, helping or not.
If someone really needs to excavate a tweeker, from almost anywhere, one should produce & briefly draw attention to a bag of crystals and begin to walk away/suggest a destination. Negotiations will begin swiftly, but you're good for 50 to 100 feet, generally.
Also, crystals are generally smashed if to be sniffed. They are generally sold like that to show purity/quality but can be cut to shit with agents that grow beautiful crystals when added to meth. Adulterants have been known to cause a myriad of side effects that usually get blamed on meth.

When something destroys thousands of lives, should we always put all the blame on people? Nobody is perfect. We could stretch this and say that nuclear weapons, poison gas, agent orange, HIV, etc etc aren't bad... its just that people use them incorrectly. I don't necessarily think that meth is evil... but it's not as simple as saying "its the abusers fault, they deserve it"
 
I'd have to think long and hard about which of two drugs I consider to the the "World's most dangerous" ... methamphetamine or alcohol.

I've lived in two places where the overwhelming drug of choice was alcohol [old home] and meth [new home].
In both places, I've had the misfortune of running into addicts as part of my job, and just general street persons. Both drugs can do absolutely horrid things to the user who goes overboard.

Organ failure? Skin destruction? Years off one's life? Exponential use, cycles of addiction, trigger for criminal acts to pay for the drug? Psychotic, violent behavior? Overdoses causing death? Addictive highs followed by depressive lows?

"tweakers are more desperate and prone to spiraling addiction & crime than alcohol," you say ... but much of this is due to the high prices and criminal risk associated with possession + acquisition.

If the prices/legality were the same, I dare say alcohol and methamphetamine would be equals. People can use them responsibily; so many people don't, and are subsequently destroyed by them

But one factor alone might just tilt the scale in favor of alcohol as the world's most dangerous drug [centuries of history notwithstanding] ...
impairment. Tweakers can - and do - shoot, stab, or beat people just as easily as drunks [perhaps easier - aim is better!], but last I checked, 15,000 people a year [in my country of residence] weren't being run down on the highway by tweaked-out drivers.
Certainly some methheads cause wrecks due to being awake too long, strung out ... but even if meth were legal, and used as often as alcohol, there's absolutely no doubt in my mind that the deaths of innocents on the roadway caused by alcohol far outnumber the amount that could occur with all other drugs, nevermind meth alone, being on the same level.

This is incorrect.

For a many number of years "ice" always meant 4mar here in Aus. Its only recently (read: the last 6-12months) that the media have been incorrectly calling meth; 'ice' to sensationalise it.

They do as well with GHB, calling it "liquid ecstasy", a name that has never stuck in the drug community as GHB and MDMA are incomparable in relation to their effects as a whole.
 
I live in the southern U.S. and meth has been a plague on the area where I live for over 30 years now. It has killed, rotted the teeth, driven into psychosis, heavily increased violent crime and claimed the livelihood of people here...now it's spreading. Methamphetamine isn't like cocaine or heroin where one can sleep off the buzz off or come down in a few hours. The intoxication of that stimulation goes on-and-on and drives many people mad after chronic use. The recovery rate from meth addiction is exceptionally low as well proving what a powerful grasp it gets on people. Ice truly is an atrocity IMO...

Doctor's prescribe "the deadliest drug in the world" to patients everyday.

It is called "Desoxyn" AKA methamphetamine hydrochloride.

Of course, once your insurance is paying for it and your no longer criminal scum, prescribed users seem to have many fewer problems... hmmm....
