I'd like to share my music discovery for today: https://www.bandlab.com/track/5aeb2...2a?revId=59eb2dd0-4965-ee11-9937-000d3a41ec2a
I saw these guys play in a small pub in Doolin, Ireland: wow!
I believe that was a bazouki he was playing, not that I know how it is distinguished musically. There are some surprising ( to me anyhow) variations on instrumentation in traditional Irish music. Last night I saw a great sextet of guitar, pipes, accordion, fiddle, and 2 banjos. Played very well together ( I guess I should a modern adaptation of traditional Irish music since obviously banjos are an African American derivative of African instruments: ain't music wonderful!)I never thought mandolin and bagpipe goes well.
I can hardly tell the difference.I believe that was a bazouki he was playing, not that I know how it is distinguished musically. I would encourage the inclusion of music of an authentic or traditional cultural nature from any country.@mr peabody...it would be interesting to know, when you mention "world music thread" what countries you are posing to involve in the thread (also, ones that may be excluded)...will political factions be involved? Will those "world" communities excluded in the daily, news (ones in the periphery of war/territorial takeovers) be included/excluded!
For me, music of an authentic cultural nature - especially the traditional ethnic expression of a national people - is politically agnostic.Define, "authentic"?
Is this to do with indigenous people's or, ones perception of it? Or, political ideals around "exotic" cultures?...it's very diffuse & quite patronising imho- Insofar as, "tribute" music to cultures or, countries - which is weirdly political?
I have to say, that I myself am quite oblivious to what I would characterize as modern foolishness, à la Dead Can Dance....there is no "national people" anymore - most governments along with the WEF (& every other us hedge fund) have erased "national identity" with the concept of "diversity ", in favour of globalism to keep the markets profitable.
Ignorance is not an excuse.
