The White Stripes

I've always said Jack White's music is what my music would sound like if I had musical talent. I live vicariously through him.

I like 'elephant' & 'White Blood Cells' a lot! great albums

p.s they are not brother and sister, they were once married though

During the early phase of their career, Jack and Meg White provided various descriptions of their relationship. In many early interviews Jack claimed that he and Meg were siblings, [18] a claim which was widely believed and repeated despite rumors that they were, or had been, husband and wife. [19] [20] In 2001, proof of their 1996 marriage emerged, [21] [22] yet they continued to insist publicly that they were brother and sister. The couple were divorced in March 2000 just before the band gained widespread attention.[23]

In a 2005 interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Jack White claimed that this open secret was intended to keep the focus on the music rather than the couple's relationship:

When you see a band that is two pieces, husband and wife, boyfriend and girlfriend, you think, "Oh, I see . . ." When they're brother and sister, you go, "Oh, that's interesting." You care more about the music, not the relationship – whether they're trying to save their relationship by being in a band. [24]

Jack White carries this band. good, but I would rather listen to the Raconteurs.

Ive always been a fan, but less so these days. I still enjoy the music but I dont rush out to buy the albums anymore (even though I do own them all). IMO they hit their peak with elephant, the albums that followed were good but none of it compares to WBC/Elephant.They have a new dvd comming out called "Under the Great Norhern Lights". As far as the raconteurs go, the first record was amazing but the second was highly dissapointing.

I totally agree. It's kind of cool to see him drumming with The Dead Weather too but
I'd much rather see him on lead guitar with The Raconteurs as well.

I hope they make another album, there shows were pretty fucking awesome.

good band imo. they were good at Bonnaroo in 07. too bad it was so dusty and fucking hot!

Have to completely disagree with that statement. I dig a couple songs on broken boy soldiers, but overall, pretty meh IMO. There isn't a song on consolers of the lonely that I ever skip.

I liked everything they did up until Get Behind Me Satan and Icky Thump, I got see them live once but it was during the GBMS tour :(

I hadn't heard of The Dead Weather but I'll be checking them out now thanks!

^ If you're thinking about his fairly new band where he is playing drums, the band is actually called The Dead Weather.

"Death Letter" is a cover of a Son House song The White Stripes did on the album "De Stijl"

Eh, I used to hate on Meg White for her drumming, but you can't really argue that it doesn't fit the material. The White Stripes are, by and large, Jack's baby when you get right down to it. She was just along for the ride. The Raconteurs interested me for a hot minute, but they are just too fucking boring. I need to get around to checking some Dead Weather eventually.

I agree with you on the Meg White thing. I mean, as a fellow musician it's like you found your thing and hey at least you are making a lot more money than my sorry ass is at playing drums.

it saddens me that you don't like the Raconteurs. although I don't listen to them so much anymore I thought that you might get down to their second album.

Dead Weather is ok. the album is lacking as a whole but has some good songs on it. the vocal performance is spot on and while the drum performance is good, it gets a little too out of the groove sometimes which detracts from the message that I think the band should portray

I never gave the second record a shot. I just found myself skipping tracks from the first one whenever it would come on after a while and just sort of lost interest.

I never really used to like them, but then again I never really used to actually listen to them.

But lately I've grown to like them a lot espesically because Jack White is really influenced by Blues.

Ball and a Biscuit :D

Like a mixture between The Lemon song and Hendrix. Jack White is talented.
