🗣️ General Discussion 🗣️ The Weather Thread

you get a good dose of it too @Shambles @BadBoy377 @ageingpartyfiend @Bleaney @placebonaut @Perkins : Reborn
I was thinking to myself Ageingpartyfiend imagine being really baked on 4-HO-MET at the main Lodge with Rev Rick & watching the sky Crack & dance just as the sun is starting to rise but it's still dark enough for the white flash to really slice through the dusk, that is 100% their kind of weather I'd be out in just cut-off jeans jumping around like some Norse mad man giving praise to Kali & Gayatri.

what are the storms like in Monsoon season @Jackal as I have a feeling where you are the Thunder & Lightning must be so Epic due to the high pressure meeting cold air which causes Nature to give humanity a display beyond words.

Nae storms up here recently. Only had a couple in over a decade, in fact.

Kinda meh weatherise of late. Neither hot nor cold. Definitely been humid though. Unpleasantly sticky :!

Rain like you've never seen man

this week is sodden, 90% humidity, raining like a tap is turned on multiple times per hour

not much thunderstorms this year, but in other parts of the country I have seen scary electrical storms in the past; around 6 years back like 100 people were killed by lightning strikes that year

Truly amazing Thunder & Lightning Storm in The West Mids this morning, I was awoken by the Bang from The Thunder & then a blinding Flash from The Lightning, the rain was like something you would see in India or Thailand in the Monsoon season.

As the ground is so baked dry all the water ran off & the whole street became a river, I was awoken around 4:20am & went out into the garden wearing only my cut-off jeans & nothing else as I love a great storm & to jump around in the rain as I play Burzum - Et Hvitt Lys Over Skogen (White Light over The Forest)

Out of all the weather we get on this Island it's Thunder & Lightning I really love, I know to be outside in the worst storm of the year isn't too wise but it's the RAW POWER of Nature I love & am humbled by every time.
Every dog in the street was going mad as it was so powerful & the flash in the sky was unlike anything I have seen in decades, it was a Storm I will remember for quite some time.

To take a kind of Animism-lite view of it I can grasp how in the old days how Cavemen types could see an event like that as "The Gods" being happy or angry etc, I still can see in a way how "The Gods" could be seen as having one hell of a party up in the sky & the Thunder & Lightning is the result of HP Lovecraft's Nath-Horthath off his head on DXM & Moonshine doing some dance of War & Destruction (like Shivya does in the Tandava)

I always think what Cavemen people must have been thinking when they were witness to a Storm like what came over today or a Blood Moon etc, I would truly love to get really loaded on a dose of 7-9 dry grams of Liberty Caps / Psilocybe semilanceata & go sit naked or just wearing cut-off jeans on the top of a Hill & watch the Sky split in a flash of White Anger & then hear that BANG, it makes even the most Ego filled person HUMBLE as you grasp that "you" as a person isn't important & are equal at the very best to a grain of Sand on the Beach.

"lightning can heat the air it passes through to 50,000 degrees Fahrenheit (5 times hotter than the surface of the sun). When lightning strikes a tree, the heat vaporizes any water in its path possibly causing the tree to explode or a strip of bark to be blown off."

How anyone cannot be stopped in their tracks, have the mind go "blank" in Pure Awe at this is beyond me, I am shocked & humbled by stuff like a Tsunami & really strong wind but for me the ultimate K.O. blow is always in Thunder & Lightning.

I always felt everyone knew about counting the seconds to figure out how far the storm is away, I did think today with so much rain that had fallen & made small rivers all over the place if some Lightning hit the floor could the Electric run right through the flow of water & maybe "cook" someone who is standing in it?

I know LIlly-bert the cocker-poo HATES a good storm, she gets very terrified, goes to the door & will do a loud bark at it, the moment another strike comes she gets terrified & runs off, give it a moment & she sneaks back out from under the sofa to do another bark again.

I can tell you a little story about thunder, because at one point few years back, I was caught in a heavy storm and lightning struck infront of me, maybe few metres away.

Everything went white for a second and the sound was really clangy, like you'd hit a spring reverb maybe. But as loud and clean as possible maybe. Was weird to witness.

Edit: Its still hot here but maybe little less. Autumn approaching and a little rain inbetween

Pissing it down here & I sadly only have Summer Trainers to wear, they have a mesh on the front which lets water in & I am soaked.
These socks will take days to dry out & my trainers will rot on the inside due to damp.

Same here. Sky's almost dark. Rain is drizzly but constant in the way that Manchester does.
There's honestly something about mancunian rain that just seems to hit different. Kinda like rain falling is the natural state of the place or something. Which it kind of is I suppose

My best thunderstorm story has to be witnessing an epic storm peaking on a strong tab of lsd and around 50 dried liberty caps (so approaching 2 grams I guess). That probably didn't need any further enhancement but enhanced it was as at the time I was watching The Cure on the main stage (Pyramid) at Glastonbury festi (1986). First and last time I took the combo, was good though)

Have been to that festival 7 times and only saw 5 bands on the main stage altogether (Psychedelic Furs, Gil Scott-Heron, The Wailers and Black Uhuru being the others) but was dragged down from the travellers field to see The Cure by my then girlfriend. Good move. They were fantastic and the (luminous green/purple/red) lightening was hitting about 100 meters behind the stage, Robert Smith twice let out loud "OOOOOH"s (once mid-song) alongside 40,000 or so others. Thought it was part of the show for a moment

I remember before the storm getting mildly cross with this bloke for moving a few feet in the crowd because I was having an awesome time looking at all the mad shit that was going on inside his head (from the back). Inconsiderate or what? I was like "get back here you fucker" Anyway the storm was a worthy replacement.

Fukkin love me some lightening and honestly wouldn't mind being struck as a final bow (another 8-10 years would be good first though)

Sounds like an incredible night was had!

I know you know my city @ageingpartyfiend . Very well too.

The thing that always gets me about Manchester rain is you can walk down one street and it's drizzle, but the next street will be clear. Then the next street it's drizzle again.

I think the"rainy city" aspect of Manchester has been proven to be slightly overstated, IIRC.

I don't think it gets that much more rain than average, although of course the South East of England is drier and warmer in general.

Western Scotland (North of Glasgow) certainly gets things much worse, as I have experienced myself on a few failed trips up there, due to appalling weather and zero visibility of anything, due to the mist and low clouds surrounding everything. :roll eyes::!

Heading back down South towards Manchester and it was clear blue skies, steadily improving the further away one got from the Scottish western highlands.

I think Wales also gets more rain than Manchester, and possibly the Lake District does too, IIRC.

Obviously it's all down to the weather systems being blown in from the atlantic to the west, and certain areas get hit more often by those weather systems.

Better than going out with Dementia or Blood Cancer which is a slow & horrific Death filled with Pain & being in Hospital being fed drugs & just waiting to die in a ward.

I'd pick to be hit by millions of Volts & cooked in a micro second to Carbon than to die how most have to.
I'm really starting to think about Death much more in a Logical way you only get from Experience, got family who are sick & I also had to drag a dead cat out from behind a Fridge a few days ago, my mates cat was ill for 2 days & he came to get me to help him take it to the Vet, by the time we got to his flat it was dead & he refused to touch it.

I had to drag the Cat out, part of it had gone HARD & the other 50% was all flopy so when I got the balls to touch it the cat did some bizarre "Necro Yoga" position, touching something Dead is weird, you can FEEL IT HAS NO LIFE IN IT, The Shakti is gone & it is a Corpse & you can see NO LIFE in the Eyes.

We took it to my backyard at night, he wanted to burn it but I had no petrol or lighter fluid so we decided to bury it in my backyard, I was given the task to "fold" the cat into a position it would fit into the hole we dug, it was a very bizarre experience & made me think about Death in a new way.
