James Douglas Morrison. Jim and I go way back ;) I’m not a “fan-girl” who thinks he was hot in his leather pants. I don’t actually find him that attractive. His mind though was stunning. People like to dismiss him as some kid on acid who was in the right place at the right time. No.. The guy wrote in the same way Van Gogh painted — compulsively and constantly.

This has special significance for me and I haven’t listened to it (or any Doors) lately. The internet never gets the lyrics right and they change from version to version. Too tired to correct them.

I want to tell you 'bout Texas radio and the Big Beat
Comes out of the Virginia swamps
Cool and slow with plenty of precision
With a back beat narrow and hard to master
Some call it heavenly in its brilliance
Others, mean and rueful of the Western dream

I love the friends I have gathered together on this thin raft
We have constructed pyramids in honor of our escaping
This is the land where the Pharaoh died
The Negroes in the forest brightly feathered
They are saying, "forget the night
Live with us in forests of azure
Out here on the perimeter there are no stars
Out here we is stoned, immaculate"

Listen to this, and I'll tell you 'bout the heartache
I'll tell you 'bout the heartache and the loss of God
I'll tell you 'bout the hopeless night
The meager food for souls forgot
I'll tell you 'bout the maiden with wrought iron soul

I'll tell you this
No eternal reward will forgive us now for wasting the dawn
I'll tell you 'bout Texas radio and the Big Beat
Soft, driven, slow and mad, like some new language
Now, listen to this, and I'll tell you 'bout the Texas
I'll tell you 'bout the Texas radio
I'll tell you 'bout the hopeless night
Wandering the Western dream
Tell you 'bout the maiden with wrought iron soul

I spent a good year reading and listening to Mr. MOJO Rising's work. I own a couple books of his poetry. You posted lyrics to a song way ahead of it's time. Thank you.

Really? Could you tell me more about it being ahead of its time please?

That’s “my” song.. I’m not sure how it all happened. I wasn’t on any psychedelics (never had any) or having a psychotic episode but I had one of my “connections” with Jim. Not as in I see him or anything like that. More like I have synchronicities with him.

His poetry is also one of the only things that calms me down if I’m having a panic attack. That first happened 20 years ago and I mostly listen to An American Prayer. I’ve got a book “Wilderness Poems” I think, but I like hearing his voice. I don’t have a crush on him though.. I think of him more like my friend. He comforts

But yeah there’s some stuff in The WASP that, if such connections exist, I think is about me. So I’m really interested to hear more about it :) I was even looking at things online about types of wasps heh.

I have to listen to it now 😊
