Thank You, Denizens of the Dark

Late in 2010, a misfortune triggered a cataclysmic farrago of emotions in me which left me feeling deeply like shit.

The emotions caused found their way into words; I transcribed my rambling, ranting thoughts and posted them on TDS. Not only did I receive support, which I was truly grateful for, but also surprising praise for the story I had written. People seemed to get a kick out of its wry humor and honesty. For those who missed it, the 'misfortune' involved hookers, drugs, booze, cops, and buckets o' pathos.

I was encouraged by fellow Darksiders to make it into a publishable short story, and after a couple years of on/off work on it, the result is Hunting Eros, a fictionalized account of the horror, which I have self-published via amazon. I've made it free for the few days that Amazon permits so those of you who inspired its creation can read it free of charge, if so inclined.

I wanted to thank you, The Dark Side, for, not only providing much needed support, but inspiring what I think is the best work I've done. I won't be getting the small boost normally got by telling friends and family about it because I am not eager to be associated, in their eyes, with this ugliness, so if you would like to leave some feedback on the site and especially if you'd tell others about it, I would infinitely appreciate it:)

Special thanks to Volp, Badandwicked, Qwe, Ocean, Junctionalfunkie, StarEkstasis, Voxmystic, for reviving my interest in writing by getting a kick out of it

For the curious, here is the original thread (I've had to delete the OP for contractual reasons)

An excellent acknowledgment - and the list of TDSers you mentioned is indeed an illustrious one.

Congratulations on publishing your work, it is a great feeling, isn't it? I clicked on the link and it is only available if the reader has a Kindle, which I do not. I am interested in reading your work; if you've an alternative free and legal method of distribution or can post it in your Blog, I'd surely read. You had me sold at hookers and drugs. ;)

Best to you going forward. Writing is a wonderful way to create order in a chaotic mind.

Thanks Butterfly!
Sadly, because of the contract I had to enter into in order to publish with them, I am not able to distribute it online for at least 90 days. BUT, although you do need a Kindle for it, but you don't need the actual, physical device. The Kindle app is available for your pc, and is free. I know it might take a little effort, but I think it'd be worth it. It would also allow you to read books in the kindle format in the future.

[As an aside, the act of 'selling' is repulsive to me, but if no one reads what I wrote, all that time and effort goes to waste:/ ]

I agree, writing is also an excellent catalyst for catharsis. Have you noticed how all the great writers in history had some deep-seated darkness in their lives?

Madd, I am having a difficult time getting it to work with my mac. Amazon won't identify that I have a Kindle app. It drove me mad the other day and I had to give up. I'll try again today.

So the days that Amazon allows for me to sell my book at no cost are all used up. So now it costs 2.99, but hopefully that won't discourage people.

I wanted to thank all of you who took the time to check my story out, I really hope you enjoyed it. For the days that it was available for free, it was downloaded 135 times, which I'm really happy about. (Unfortunately not one person has actually bought it, but here's hoping...) I think the revised edition is much better.

Thanks again!
