Cloud above me
lined in gray, haunting
like a persistent apparition
raping me with beady,
black eyes,
seeing through to me,
slowly breaking me
to the rhythm
of their wicked inner whispers.
So here I am,
back again at the end of the world,
toes wriggling in the cold, musty air
at the edge of forever
as I strive to sustain faith
in my own insanity,
sure that its the only
thing that could save me
isolated as ever now
yet somehow I've never been less alone
looking up, pupils swallowing
a vast, alive sky
as I'm hopelessly lost
like a child that should not be,
floating in the cold company of space,
hungry for nurture yet denying arms,
trying to breathe despite the vacuum,
trying to dream despite
the nightmares that surround me.
And the cloud
descends and stretches,
the storm's not just
in my brain, its made clear,
left with hands
tied, back against the wall again,
all the while trying to juggle
my hopes and fears
as lightning strikes again,
as the storm shows no end.
lined in gray, haunting
like a persistent apparition
raping me with beady,
black eyes,
seeing through to me,
slowly breaking me
to the rhythm
of their wicked inner whispers.
So here I am,
