The State of the Other Drugs Forum – A Plan for the Future …
First, I would like to thank Daeu121, Skydancer, Applesbliss, Sebastians Ghost
Well over a year ago, shit, it has almost been two, I had realized that Bluelight was really a “ecstasy message board” and there was not a lot of room for info on Other Drugs – at the time, I was moderating the Medical Q & A forum full-time… having gained something of a reputation as one who was knowledgeable about the effects of many drugs, and more so, one who had experience with many drugs, I felt confident that I would be able to improve the overall Bluelight experience if there was a forum where people could come and get information on drugs other then ecstasy….
So was born the Other Drugs forum … since it’s inception, we have grown into more then a forum, but rather a community within the world that is Bluelight … at first, things were wonderful, and the forum was rolling along smooth… applesbliss and myself were the two original moderators, and between the two of us, we kept the forum running like a well-oiled machine….
Jump ahead a year or so… Bluelight has doubled in size, and the Other Drugs forum has become one of the most high-traffic areas on the site.. it is DEFINITLY the most popular, useful, and coolest forum, it makes the ladies wetter than any other, and we get a LOT of new posts, as well as a LOT of questions.. well, with growth comes added difficulty – this is definitely become the case with this forum… as I see it as there are a few MAIN problems with Other Drugs, and here is my list:
1) Repetitive questions not getting the answers they warrant… a year ago, a question about the effects of 2C-T-7 would have drawn several pages of answers, well, today it warrants a reply of “go to erowid” … Bluelight is NOT erowid … what can be done about this?
2) Topics that fit the criteria of ‘Other Drugs Material’, yet get ignored… we all know that marijuana is lame, gay, stupid and that all people who smoke pot wear Birkenstocks and listen to Phish as they take bong hits from their 4 foot bong they named “Kurt”, all while sitting on a couch found by the apartment complex dumpster in some living room decorated with a black-light responsive cloth poster of a mushroom and a plastic “Highway 420” sign – sure, the worthwhile people know this, but MANY people ARE interested in taking about such things how to make a pipe from various pieces of produce, or the best way to make “Jear Bear Butter” (I assume that’s what a pot head would call it) .. we need to focus more attention on these topics…
3) Elitest attitude among Senior Other Drugs members… yes, I fall under the umbrella of this one too .. a lot of people tend to be driven away before they even have the chance to settle in… this may come as a horrible shock to some, but it would appear that some Other Drugs members may carry an elitist attitude and come off as “better then you” … we need to ensure this doesn’t persist…
4) A lack of attractive females.. we are working on this.. I am trying to get fairynymph to let us put her image in every post, but this isn’t final yet…
To make a quick statement in what seems to be a battle in the quality of our moderators vs. those on the Shroomery (I am trying to address everyone’s concerns and this was brought up in another thread) – The moderators we have here are as knowledgeable as those on the Shroomery… NO! The “quality” of the moderators on that site, or any other drug site, are no better then the people that take the time to answer questions here – whether or not they have the title of ‘moderator’ … the only area in which the Shroomery may surpass Bluelight is the information on, well, shrooms – then again, we have more information on ecstasy…. THIS SHOULD NOT BE A WAR! We are all trying to provide ACCURATE DRUG INFORMATION….
Now to address some of these ‘issues’ .. see, there are no problems, only solutions waiting for implementation …
First off, we WILL be splitting the Other Drugs forum up into TWO forums – “Other Drugs” (that’s this one) and another forum that will PROBABLY be named “Other Psychedelic Drugs” … huh? You drugged up brain asks?
“Other Drugs” (this one) will deal with drugs OTHER THEN ECSTASY that are NOT PSYCHEDELICS .. eventually we will come up with a clear cut definition of EXACTLY what we will use to classify a drug as a “psychedelic”….. some examples of drugs that will be delt with in Other Drugs:
*) Pharmaceuticals: this includes pain killers such as Vicodin, OxyContin, Dilaudid, etc.. benzos such as Valium, Xanax, Klonopin, etc… amphetamines such as Ritalin, Adderall, Desoxyn, etc…. if it’s sold in a pharmacy, then it stays in this forum….
*) Opiates and Opioids: this includes pain killers as mentioned above, as well as heroin, fentanyl, opium, etc…
*) Meth/Amphetamines: crystal meth, crank, 4-methyl-aminorex, amphetamine sulfate, BZP, etc..
*) Cocaine: coke, crack, base, whatever…..
*) Marijuana: hey, we are being fair here…
*) GHB / 1,4-BD, etc…
The “Other Psychedelic Drugs” forum would entail the psychedelic drugs OTHER then ecstasy…
*) LSD
*) Mescaline
*) Research chemicals: we all know them, and have seen a HELL OF A LOT of posts regarding them – 2C-T-2, 2C-T-7, 5-MeO-DiPT, 5-MeO-DMT, AMT, Salvia, etc….
*) Shrooms:
Now of course those lists are FAR from POSSIBLY being complete, but it should give you an IDEA as to the direction I would like to see this go….
I think this will HELP as it gives us the chance to bring in some people that may be able to devote more time to the specific areas they excel in – I have a decent knowledge of psychedelics, and can answer most any of the questions posted in regards to any psychedelic, HOWEVER, there are others who have made these drugs a MUCH greater part of their being than I – so yes, while I CAN answer the question, and if I invested the time, I could REALLY provide a useful response, there are some questions that I simply don’t want to invest the time and effort into – yes, it’s called burnout, I can only explain how you cook ketamine so many times before I just want to say “use the search engine” – in this instance, Bluelight is not serving it’s purpose…. It’s an Internet message board, and people come and go, so we have not only expect that, but accommodate that…
So, we will kill two birds with one stone here, actually, we will kill many birds with a number of large caliber assault weapons .. huh?
FAQ! That’s right, we have talked about it, and I have even typed some, shit, we even have a forum devoted to them…. THE NUMBER ONE GOAL FOR OTHER DRUGS IS TO WRITE OUR OWN SET OF FAQ’S THAT WILL ANSWER THE MOST COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS – got that?
You guys make this forum what it is, so I want to see some FAQ’s … as I read through the forum, I see a lot of repetitive topics…. now, I know that we have some people out there that are fucking experts in their own area… I am not going to single anyone out, but THIS IS A CALL TO ARMS … if there is some chemical that you just know EVERYTHING about, then I would like you to help us by WRITING AND FAQ .. we have the search function enabled, and tons of resources available, so, lets say you want to write an FAQ on Salvia – SEARCH Bluelight for “saliva” and find out WHAT QUESTIONS are being asked… type it all up into a NICE document and we will add it to the FAQ archive … lets elaborate a little more on this, as this is the MOST IMPORTANT THING for use right now….
First, go to the FAQ forum – read some of the FAQ’s .. not to blow my own hornm, but I think my OxyContin FAQ (http://www2.bluelight.ru/ubb/Forum32/HTML/000052.html) is a good example of how you may want to lay yours out… remember, it’s an F-A-Q, so read through OTHERS posts, and think “what do I need to include to satisfy these posters inquiries?” .. if possible, document any of your information sources too… if you need help, that’s what we are here for!
So because we want QUALITY STUFF, once you’re finished with the FAQ, please e-mail it to me OR ANY OTHER MODERATOR … we will review it, check it for accuracy, and ask for feedback…. eventually it will be added to the FAQ forum…. now, when someone asks a question that’s covered in an FAQ, you can simply QUOTE THE FAQ … we need to cut back on the “use the search engine” and “go to erowid” replies….

I have setup an FTP site where these FAQ’s (as well as anything else) can be uploaded to, the site info in posted in the Mod/Admin Hideout … as the FAQ’s approach final drafts, they will be posted to the public area of my server for review ….
Lets see…. It’s getting late so I know I am forgetting some things….
I would like more input on the forum divide – I am kinda firm about having the Other Drugs and Other Psychedelic Drugs as the only two forums, the idea of a “New to Other Drugs” and things like forums for EACH INDIVIDULE DRUG just seem to present more problems when I think about it…
I will remain a moderator of the Other Drugs Forum, and I would also like to hold a moderator position in the psychedelics forum – really just so I can do the general maintenance, provide information on some of the more obscure psychedelics I HAVE done (yes, despite what murple says, I HAVE injected 50mg of 5-MeO-DMT, and I HAVE had the 30 hours nightmare that was N-DOM, along with a few other weird things) and assist in any other way possible .. as for the other moderators – I personally have feelings that some talent is misplaced, and when we get the psychedelics forum up, I have some opinions on a few people I would like to see as moderators (some who are not currently moderators, some who are on other forums) ..
YOUR INPUT IS WANTED ON THIS
I do, in fact, read EVERY SINGLE POST in the Other Drugs forum (and many in Med Q & A) … so I have a good idea who knows what – but I am sure others have their own ideas, so LETS HEAR THEM!
WHO DO YOU THINK SHOULD MODERATE THESE FORUMS?
As a last note (for the time being, I will type more tomorrow) – the ELITISM THAT EXISTS AMONG THE OD REGULARS – yes, I have talked to some of the carnal offenders, and I KNOW I CAN COME OFF AS AN ASSHOLE … well, we are going to start cracking down … the hostility will STOP … I don’t think so much of it is “an elitist attitude” as much as it is “getting burned out answering the same questions and just kinda blowing off the poster” …
Things are starting to change as of NOW!
