The Speed Diet

Powder_Sports: what a load of crap you have just said. Speed does not do anything to your muscles or your fat. It is the increased metabolism combined with lack of appetite which results in weight loss. This weight loss is due to loss of fat as well bodily fluids and in severe cases, muscle loss. If adequate nutrition is maintained, the sources of energy such as carbohydrates and fat are plenty to go on for the increased metabolism. Your muscles won't go anywhere.

The danger is the loss of appetite, but as I've mentioned, eating when on speed is a must. If not while totally of your head, then closer to a come down.

Its simple, provide enough resources for your body to cope with increased metabolism and to last through periods of lost appetite (but keep these right down) and you will maintain a constant weight. Now, start eating protein rich foods, protein powder, creatine, licithin and other suppliments, go to the gym regularly and hurt yourself a bit, and this will start building your muscles.

Cones and speed make it SO hard to keep the weight on... as someone else was saying, i'm like 6' too and have at times dropped to 59kgs... it's not good... these days i struggle to maintain a semi-healthy 67, 68... but i'd love to put on ten kilos.....

Many people who do this finds the weight goes back on when they cut down their amphetamine use.

Meth and Weight Loss

You should find all your questions answered in there! But to summarise, the risks are those of chronic meth use: neurotoxicity, cardiac issues both acute and chronic, potential electrolyte imbalances from starvation and dehydration and weight gain on cessation of meth. Going without food for prolonged periods is not a good idea as it wreaks havoc on your gastrointestinal tract - it can cause acid reflux, constipation, indigestion etc. And your body needs food to replenish neurotransmitters. So it is much better to have something as you go than nothing at all.

TranceNation: i am in the similar boat as you, but not 22kg worth. in the last month of i guess pretty heavy/regular use of meth i've dropped to the thinnest since i can remember and i feel AWSOME. Girls are noticing me more, although i do already have a sexy gf, it's nice to be able to choose clothes that fit the body type that designers have worked with. however, i did have about a week off the meth, i need to stop this damn shit, and i ate like a little bitch. food in fridge = food in stomach. however, i realised this and said to myself 'FUCK MAN! look at where you've got on the easy road, now it's time to do what it takes to keep it off and even get some damn muscles.' so i've joined the gym. at first you can be a little intimidated by the big muscley gym/steroid addicts but you get into your comfort zone pretty quickly.
i recommend the gym x1,000,000 over eating meth regularaly. also, after the gym you feel like you've done something so great the whole world is better for it.
although it's tough sometimes to get your ass off to the gym, once you're there it's great and you FEEL great.

so do as i have, take step1 (meth) [not recomended by health officials] and step2 (join your local gym). i swear to god it'll make you feel even better about yourself than even being thin.

Thanks for the info , you guys have made some really valid points, if only you guys had the power to run government we would be set, hehehe, i have come to the conclusion that the gym and a regular healthy diet is the way, but i will still indulge on the speed as i love to dance hard , all nite and the club scene which is my life style. Thanks again everybody you've done well :) :) :)

I agree with runner with the whole speed and muscle building thing. Its the lifestyle accosiated with speed use that is anti muscle building - I have recently given up going out reguarly for this reason. Proof of this is the fact that in bodybuilding there are products called thermogenic(sp?) enhancers that are ephadrine/caffeine/aspirin combos that are designed to rev your metabolism and/or charge you for a workout. These work similar to speed and feels similar as well, you build muscle taking these substances as long as your nutrition and training is adequate. :)

Well like any form of crash diet, as soon as you go back to your normal routine, any weight loss usually comes straight back on. So by all means enjoy it while it lasts...but it wont.
The party has to end sometime =D

Screw the speed diet. I enjoy eating too much. Atkins diet is the way to go - I lost 18kg in 3 months (5kg in the first 2 weeks). (and it's not a crash diet - it's a lifelong aproach ;))

^^^is atkins same as keto diet.
5kg in two weeks is way to fast, you should only be losing up to 1kg per week otherwise your losing muscle. Could have been water weight though.

P_S - Yah.. Atkins is ketogenic. And yes, I reckon a lot of the first 5kg is water weight. I don't know about the "over 1kg a week is losing muscle" thing... I've been doing weight training at the same time and haven't noticed any decrease (well after the second month.. I wanted to prove that you could lose weight by just changing eating habits, and still not excercise :D although I do recommend exercise just for the extra energy you get.. you know - "fitness")

I wish it worked for me, but sadly it doesn't :(

Because on speed I'll still eat! Yes, bizarre but true. I might not be hungry, but I intensely dislike that gnawing, empty feeling in my belly, not to mention the nausea which comes with drinking and smoking on an empty stomach.

So I'll be the one forcing down a peice of bread and butter or eating a few chips after 5-6 hours without food, and everyone's going "HOW can you do that?"... um, it's possible; it's just not top of your priority list.

Ah well, at least I still remain healthy and get my vitamins...

Negro-kitty: No one has disagreed that *irresponsible* meth use CAN lead to muscle loss. The point is that it does NOT have to and if proper care is taken it WILL NOT lead to muscle loss.

^^^^^irresponsible meth use or not WILL lead to muscle loss fact.
Use google and such. It eats at both fat and muscle.
The use of a good diet high in protein and working out may help to a degree but you will still loss LBM.
There are better ways, more cost effective and less harmful on the body - also muscle loss will not be a result.
In order to build muscle a positive nitrogen balance must be maintained, and im not sure but id bet good money that Meth would cause a negitive nitrogen balance hence loss of muscle etc.

Powder_Sports: Perhaps it would be more convincing if you linked some articles that definitively prove that methamphetamine "eats at both fat and muscle". That appears to be the statement people are reacting to the most.

Before that though, as an overall comment: What would be best, in my opinion, is if the terms were all clarified precisely in this argument so that we do not get distracted by semantic games. Clearly, Powder_Sports is trying to indicate that (at the bottom line) using meth reduces body mass.

There are REAL physical reasons why reduced body hydration/fat/mass/weight can potentially result from methamphetamine use, which are nothing to do with the chemical actually dissolving muscular tissue, which is implied by the term 'eats at'. Think about increased metabolic rate and anorexia due to methamphetamine use causing an energy deficit which your body must work around by using stored energy.

If we are going to entertain serious discussion, then all the debaters should seriously address the topic, which means avoiding colloquialisms, and being extremely clear about what you mean. I don't think that hyperbole will assist an argument in a forum dedicated to ignoring propaganda.

as far as im aware i thought stimulants effected the bodies metabolism of neutrients buy speeding them up (duh). For example if you drink coffee or do speed etc your bodies metabolism is reved up and oxidises fats more effectively as well as channels the nutrients more readily towards muscle. On the downside you prob. need more nutrients to keep the body going now its charged up, but thats not the point. The speed itself does not eat muscle its the body striving for energy and canobolising the muscle as it is the easiest, most availible energy source.

Powder Sports, earlier in this thread you said a reduced muscle mass results in a lower ability to burn fat so therefore when ya stop taking speed weight will be put back on quickly cos your ability to burn fat is reduced. To say less muscle mass results in a lesser ability to burn fat is fairly inaccurate, or maybe 4 years of uni has mislead me. If anything having less muscle mass/tissue will increase the bodies ability to burn fat. This is because the body has to work harder due to muscle inefficiency when exercising. If the workload is harder/greater more energy is require, therefore resulting in greater energy output and burning of fat. Its the same principal as when you start an exercise program the results are obvious and noticeable. Towards the end of the program the results are not as clear as your body is working efficiently and energy requirements are not as great to perform the tasks as they were previously.
I'm not for a minute suggesting that drug use is an appropriate/safe method of weight and I doubt that any responsible professional health/sports practitioner would recommend it.
Weight loss basically comes down to 1 thing. Energy Input V Energy Output. In order to lose weigh Energy Input has to be less than the Energy Output.
Beech out
