the sodium compounds used by government

Can anyone tell me about these compounds that are used soley to glean info. from people?(or are there more purposes for them than that?)
And honestly, is it even a good idea to be talking about such drugs here if they're that obscure and secretly used for these purposes?
 
I don't know much, but I know somethings. Foreign South American governments and guerillas would use sodium thiopental (Pentothal) as a so-called "truth serum". It is a short acting barbitutate. However, the drug doesn't really serve its purpose very well. You have to hook the subject up to an IV, and start administering the Pentothal at a low dose, slowly increasing the dose. The problem is, with to little of the drug, the subject will not admit anything, and with to high a dose, the subject will simply be knocked out.
There is no drug that can *MAKE* you tell the truth, by Pentothal administered at the correct dose can lower inhibitions enough to make said subject tell you want to here.
Of course, usually after the Pentothal treatment fails to retrieve the information the conspiritors are seeking to learn, they move onto torture. I hear electric currents to sexual organs and blow torches work well.
 
there are 2 types of the compound and one will make you talk for DAYS--like up to 4, as opposed to the short lived one that ends in an hour. someone i know had to take this extensive one, and this is one i want to find out more about.
From what i know, they are able to reprogram your entire memory from it.

The whole idea of "truth serums" is stupid. You can certainly give a person drugs that will lower their inhibitions, but that's about the best you can do to anyone.
I've spent years of my life on drugs. For a portion of those years I was taking whatever drugs I could get my hands on and trying to get as inebriated as possible without killing myself (which I'm suprised I never did). There have seriously been a handful of occassions when I couldn't even remember my own name that I've been in situations where I've had to lie and did. There was one occassion in which I was so messed up I thought I had been abducted by aliens and thought my closest friends WERE the aliens. And I know if they had started questioning me about something really personal I still would have lied if it was some secret I didn't want anyone to know about me. The only times I may have had my inhibitions lowered enough to just answer any question I would have been too messed up to even know what someone was asking me. And I've been in that situation dozens of times, too.
I can't imagine anyone who's really gone out of their way to try as many drugs as possible and use them recklessly would believe in the possibility of an effective "truth serum" drug.

I would welcome someone to give me lots of drugs and get me really high.
But you put a stun gun on my testicles and you don't even need to turn it on, I'll tell you everything you want to know and then some.
From what i know, they are able to reprogram your entire memory from it.
You could absolutely get someone inebriated and implant memories as well as alter existing ones. But I seriously doubt you could go so far as altering someones memories so much that you make them think they've lived another life or something.

Lets talk about "trusth serums"..
first, it's nothing like you see in "True Lies" hwere a shot is given and 5 minutes klater no matetr what questiion is asked an honest answeri s given, basically "trusth serum" drugs work like this:
They kill your short term memory ...
I like using MDMA for a truth serum, for instance, say I want to find out something asbout a girl andwe are rolling, well, I will ask her the question andshewill respond, I then act like I wasnt listening and say "sorry, what was that?" .. if they are lying you will get one of the following:
1) Oh, um, nothing
2) A totally diffent answer
3) The same answer with minor points changed and a greater length time for the subject to answer..
See, thats how it works.. unless you truely LIVE THE LIE then you lie wiht your short term memory, a drug that impairs your short term memory and BAM - they ("they" being someone SKILLED at asking the questions and knowing what to look fo in the answers)
Sodium pentothal is a GREAT drug at just killing youtr short term memory so very fewpeople are good enough liars to be able to spit out a lie as fast as such a question "what's you're name?" ..

Wasn't it in some Douglas Adams book where this guy was given a truth serum, and he tapped into all truth in the universe. Then people realized they didn't really want to hear the whole truth and eventually sealed him in some sort of vault..?
In any case, it just came to mind for some reason.
As an intereseting sidenote, I saw a Larry King episode today on CNN where the Jackson family lawyer was claiming that the kid who said Michael Jackson molested him had been on Sodium Pentothal when he gave his statements.
I wonder, are statements made under the influence of the drug legally admissible in the U.S. injustice system?

This compound was also used for a time to treat Post Traumatic Stess Disorder. After a soldier would return with partially suppressed traumatic memories (usually from Vietnam, that was the era when this treatment was mainly used) they would come in to therapy, be given a course of doses of the drug and be engaged in conversation about those events which in normal consciousness would be too painful to converse about. As the drug wears off the doctor would continue the conversation as long as possible, helping the material to become "unrepressed" for lack of a better word.

First of all, let me say that you ALL would be surprised what a person would divulge when you cut two or three fingers off.
Personally I know what the effects of a broomstick wrapped in barbwire will produce.
Keep in mind what the CIA releases to the public...
Do you honestly believe this is the extent of their research? Technology?
Beyond torture there are many, MANY routes that they can take to get the desired results.
After all, the brain is nothing more than an organ controlled by chemicals.

Found this information:

Sodium Pentathol: A ultra-short-acting barbiturate that depresses the central nervous system, slows heart rate, and lowers blood pressure. In the relaxed state produced by the drug, subjects are more susceptible to suggestion and are therefore easier to interrogate. The drug does not actually guarantee that prisoners will tell the truth, however. Often, it makes subjects "gabby" without revealing any important information.

Scopolamine: A poisonous alkaloid found in various plants (as jimsonweed) of the nightshade family and used especially as a truth serum or usually with morphine as a sedative in surgery and obstetrics.

Scopolamine was first introduced into medical usage in 1902. When scopolamine is given in lower (non-poisonous) doses, it causes drowsiness and amnesia and sometimes a sense of euphoria (a "high").

Sodium Amytal Sodium amytal is a hypnotic sedative drug that, like hypnosis, is occasionally used with trauma survivors to access repressed or unconscious material, such as feelings and memories, or to aid in diagnosis of possible dissociative identity disorder (DID). The drug is administered via an intravenous (IV) drip, usually in an inpatient setting to monitor the slight risk of medical complications. It is used illegally as a crude way of digging up information.


In 1963 the US Supreme Court said "serum-induced confession" was in effect a form of torture and the practice was ruled unconstitutional.

But the CIA has a lot more stuff than this. I don't know what they are, but my sister worked as a guard for them a long time ago and they told her that if she ever spied on them she would wake up in a house she didn't recognize and would be totally insane because they had the drugs to do it.

what was your source for this info?

how would they know if your sister spied on them? did she ever find out WHAT they have to be so secretive about?
