It sort of was a movie, if I'm not mistaken. Bill Murray in "Where the Buffalo Roam".

They actually bought the rights to an article he'd done called "The Banshee Screams for Buffalo (?) Meat. It was based on Oscar Zeta Acosta.

The movie was just a way to bring the silver screen thompson's eccentric behavior, I think. He was friends with Murray, as well. Might have played a role.

It's an amazing book, I doubt that the film will be exceptional. At least Johnny Depp is playing Paul.

I've been reading about this on IMDB since I was a kid. It is hard to be excited anymore, but I am trying. As long as people are going to continue to capitalize on Hunter, I'd rather someone publish Prince Jellyfish.

With Fear and Loathing: HST invented the hotdog, then Gilliam thought to put some ketchup on it, and the final product was improved. Ketchup might not go well with The Rum Diary. Hopefully this Robinson guy was thinking, fuck Fear and Loathing.

I cannot believe that people are happy about Amber Heard getting the role for Chenault over Johansson. Heard is good for the role; Scarlett would have been perfect. Oh well, at least they didn't go with Keira Knightley (nothing against her, she's just not Chenault, and her with Depp would have been weird on screen if no one was swashbuckling).

I don't know how much the story is going to change, but Depp is much, much older than Paul Kempt. Maybe they will be able to make it work. Maybe. Still, using Depp is going to make people expect another Fear and Loathing. The Rum Diary and Fear are very different stories.

Whatever. I am excited. I'd be much more excited if Johansson was Chenault.

^ I bet scarlett would have gotten the role if it wasnt for the nudity. But I always pictured someone like Heard playing Chenault Also there is no Yeamon. Its not like he was influencial to the story or anything -.-

^ That's because film makers oft take the integrity of his books & want to turn it into some pathetic half-witted rendition.

He more or less said 'fuck you' to alex cox when he was set to direct fear & loathing; good job he did in my opinion.

I read on IMDB that it has an october 2011 release date im pumped but im worried this movie will be shit. On IMDB it says Kemp experiments with an unknown hallucinagen. TRD is just not a drug story but I will see it anyway.

It's amazing that even someone like Johnny Depp would have so much trouble getting a project off the ground. Yet, some complete unknowns think they're gonna just waltz into Hollywood and take it by storm. Good luck with that. 8)
