The PROPER Way to Cook Black Tar (if you can't see through your shot, READ THIS!)

^lmao. I hear what your saying dude, its just a way to get a little more cut out before you use..and that is harm reduction so whos word is not important, only whether this method works or doesn't.

fortunately I don't have to deal with black tar, but if your gettin residue in the barrel, probably a second filtering would do a world of good.

Have you tried cooking black tar, by heating the water to the boil, taking it off the heat THEN adding the dope?

I do this with UK brown heroin - add water and citric to spoon, bring to boil, take off heat - THEN add smack and stir.

I find that it dissolves really nicely, but you haven't had to boil the shit out of your drugs, and none of of it has bubbled and spat out of the spoon.

just filtering is not enough. some of this particulate matter (particulates is not a word ), is dissolved with heat, but will come out of solution, when that heat is no longer there.

if you don't believe me, cook up a shot your normal way, and let it sit out for a while. i'm sure you will see crap that has settled to the bottom. this is the same crap you are putting into your veins, which is now floating around inside of you.

i trust JCs judgement over yours. you dont cook and let things reconstitute, you cook and filter well so you dont eff up in the first place.

im a little high and drunk at the moment but if im reading things right i think i need to point out that ultimately the filtering is going to be done with a micron filter. even with thorough filtering (several times and through a fresh one each time) a rolly cigarettes filter or ball of cotton there is still going to be some insolubles that get through - heated or not. ive seen it from prepared heated and unheated shots of mine in the past, which ive let sit for a few hours. sediment does build in the bottom.

im pretty sure thats the point thats seen differently. a micron filter vs cotton filter.

i dont care how many times you use a cotton filter, im prepared to bet theres always some trace amount of insolubles getting into your shot. to be completely honest im more concerned over bacteria entering my blood system than a few insolubles/particulates

If you have the patience, most tar will dissolve within two minutes is left in the spoon without adding any heat or using the plunger to stir. I've never had a problem waiting when I wasn't dopesick, occasionally I'd need to swirl the spoon around a bit, but ti avoided heat or any stirring. after it's dissolved, filter and bang!

Its a different story here in the UK/Europe.

As we have to make the brown diamorphine base acidic so it dissolves with citric acid - we can never be sure wether the stuff that left in the spoon is cut/crap or undissolved heroin.

So I just stir and keep on adding more acid until *everything* has dissolved.

I shudder when I think of the amount of effort I have put into getting god-knows-what crap into my veins.

I would love to know what is used as a cutting agent in UK brown heroin - aside from caffeine. Does anyone here know?

A text here (very old but an interesting article) shows main cutting agents were caffeine and paracetamol. Don't know about recently, maybe glucose or powdered milk, as a guess?

^ Unfortunately that's pre-9/11.

According to the police, the amount and strength of heroin in the UK has gone WAY up since then. Which must be good news tbh - as 44% of the samples in that link had NO cutting agents found! Which is odd, as I thought it was the cut (especially caffeine) that allowed brown heroin #3 to be smoked.

It frustrating sometimes, as you're fucking around cooking the shit - not knowing if your forcing the cut or the actual heroin to dissolve.

In This video on youtube they dissolve some uk brown in the lab with citric. Quite interesting to watch since at the end they analyse for h content two samples of the same batch prepared with different amounts of citric.
