The power of community psychedelic experiences....

Man fuck John Lennon!

Sorry about that ;)

I remember a friend of Leary's saying that when they were all taking mushrooms at Millbrook it was all about group trips and love and peace between each other but when acid arrived and they couldn't get hold of psilocybin anymore the dynamic changed and they were all taking solo trips.

I agree that ethical living and virtue are the way to go for our world...which makes me wonder, do you think the psychedelic inspiration in a group learning exp could wind up angled toward brotherly love and other virtuous ideals?

Definitely, I know group experiences often trend towards a more recreational type experience (at least IME), but this isn't always so. Since our group would be going into with the intention of bonding, and we're already making the leap of faith of putting ourselves around strangers while vulnerable to engage in a trust and community building exercise, I think conditions would be ripe for the desired effects.

And if you were leading such ceremony, with group agreed upon harmonious intent, Annnnd we were aiming for breakthrough +++–++++ intensity, which compound or plant would You choose my good man? (or any good men interested in answering ha)

I may be biased since I've been jonesing a good tryptamine experience for a while, but I'm going with shrooms.

I figure, let's jump in with both feet and really throw our minds out there. While a phen like mescaline (ignoring that mescaline's duration and tendency towards nausea would be undesirable) is gentle and trending towards warmness and empathy, I think those feelings may too superficial. At least, nothing like what a tryptamine can dig out of you.

And yes, I really was only considering the classics, I love me some pihkal/tihkal psychs, but they just don't have the same sanctity (placebo though it may be, I cannot ignore it).

Mushies score high for duration, depth, not being the vomit machines that cacti and aya are (I'd like to do this whole thing outside, and I don't picture emesis as a being appropriate for an outdoorsy place, nor as a group activity). Keeping it short will help keep things focused, and allow for pre/post trip activity.

To some extent it is an arbitrary choice though, I don't place great confidence in it, but for the sake of hypothetical discussion, I'll stand by it.

Perhaps the best thing to do would be for the parties involved to come to consensus, I figure as folks come up with their group manifesto, the precise nature of their goals, in addition to how they already feel about certain psychs, may guide them to their best solution.

Yeh that makes a lot of sense, I've only ever done mushrooms alone in pretty high doses, Maybe it would be interesting to try some lower dose experiences in the company of others, of course the problem is.... where do you find the others ?

30 years ago when my relationship with psychedelics began we would always drop acid in groups and have wild adventures but now nearly everyone in my circle of psychedelic friends seems to have stopped taking them these days, we are all fast approaching our 50's now and I seem to be the only one left who is still up for it, and I have no connection with any younger trippers from the next generation, I mean location is partly to blame too as living in rural Australia does leave one isolated from most forms of art, culture, intelligent psychedelic conversation and open minded community get togethers.

A huge part of the cultural community life here seems to be centered on sport, which I find infantile and boring.

Also so much water has passed under the bridge in my circle of friends, most of whom are in long term relationships and at the end of 20 to 30 years of raising kids, paying the mortgage and generally trying to financially keep afloat that when I suggest to any of them perhaps re-visiting psychedelics they all sheepishly look away and change the subject, like they are afraid of all that water coming rushing back upstream and washing the bridges away or something.

I don't want to go to raves or huge city based parties with loud music and flashing lights but I long for a small group of dedicated psychonaughts who sit around a campfire and share a trippping experience with integrity, compassion, understanding and gentle quiet support.

That's what we all used to do but I seem to be the only one left who hasn't burnt out and slipped into middle class mediocrity.

Leary said "Find the others", a task that has never been easy.

The fact that the bastards in the establishment still feel so in fear of funny ideas and generally threatened by psychedelics that they insist on keeping them illegal and suppressed makes the task of reaching out and finding any "others" extremely difficult.

So I continue my journey with psychedelics alone, thank god for BlueLight, which is a great asset to the lone tripper like me.
