Milly.

She's like looking after a child. You can't take your eyes off her. She's either in the bin, or missing her puppy training pad and pissing on the floor. I was getting ready to go out on Sat night and she kept trying to help by pulling things out of my make up bag with her sharp teeth!

Its pretty much impossible to walk down the street without someone stopping to ask if they can say hello to her.

Still, she's cute!

I was born on the Welsh border (Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire to be precise) so I know it well. A green & picturesque land it be.

(Insert obligatory joke about Welsh people & sheep here).

Good thing about analogue cameras is they increase in price as they get older.. well the good ones do anyway

I'm actually a mere English (or Sasnaeg, as they would say around these parts) interloper and I've only been here a couple of years but it certainly is a green and picturesque land :).

And rainy. Very, very rainy :|.

Is that one of those famous (and highly valuable and sought after) Russian cameras that I forget the name of? If so, you are a lucky boy indeed :).

And finally, on the analogue/digital debate, I wasn't trying to be all snotty and superior about it cos they're really quite different things in many ways. I would make the rough analogy of vinyl versus CD. CDs are "better" in many ways, but vinyl has a special something that digital has never quite captured :).
 
oh aye, they definitely have plenty of the former!

i've always loved the look of old Leicas, but have never bought one. old Canons too. my AV-1 isn't hugely old (1982) but i would NEVER EVER sell it, it'll be going in my will. :)
 
I'd love to get camera nerdy on yo' ass, but it's been so long since I used them I can't actually remember what they are. Actually I've never used the two I have now - they were my brother's. A couple of Cannons I think, but nothing too old or sexy.

A friend of mine once picked up an old Hasselblad 2 1/4" on the market for a fiver. Jammy sod.

Sorry - what a fortuitous find for the lucky boy was what I meant to say ;).
 
oh i'm not a camera nerd by any means. my dad gave me that old one ages ago, and he's not with us any more, so it kinda feels like an inheritance. i just got it a few years early. :)

your mate should go on david dickinson's real deal with that camera. ;)
 
My mate's a professional photographer so he probably makes good use of it ;).

And no, not much of a camera nerd myself. But by a (geniunely) spooky coincidence I acquired my cameras from precisely the same situation only with a different relative. I sold my own ones for smack years ago - these two (and the Polaroid that came with them) are staying with me for the long haul - even if I never get around to actually using them.
 
Felix, indeed, they are inexpensive cameras. However, they were made in the cold war to be cheap alternatives to Leicas (as you mentioned earlier), but the build quality is still very good, the only real differing feature is the lens and the shutter.


Leicas go for around £500-1000 pounds these days.
 
Ooooh, that's lovely. I've only ever been in the Austrian Alps in Winter and have always wanted to see them in Spring. Did you notice that there was a Spar like every mile?
