Cheers Spade. You figured out all the functions on your new camera yet?

Getting there, seems fairly straight forward.

I'm really impressed with the photos so far.

^ The only thing I don't like about them is the delay sometimes, and the inability to shoot sveral shots straight after each other.

I'm mainly into analogue photography, this was taken with a Holga.

I love how the sky turned out.

Gosh how nice to see a scratchy old celluloid-based photograph :). I also love how the sky turned out.

Glad to see felix and Spade have received their new cameras... and have apparently discovered the "portrait" setting too ;).

Instead of mocking me give me some tips on how to take better pics please. :p

What feature should I use instead of portrait?

All advice / tips welcome. :)

i stated explicitly that i had been using it, and i was merely pointing out what a difference it makes. nothing apparent about it, old chum. ;)

cheeky cunt x 2 :D

spade - have a look through the site i linked to earlier: www.kenrockwell.com - i've learned a lot from it.

I wasn't using any particular feature actually when I took them flower pics come to think of it, was just the automatic point and click mode for me.

I'm not mocking you, Spade! Or felix! Really I'm not and I'm sorry if it reads that way.

As for tips and advice, I'm the last person to ask - I studied photography for three years with nary a certificate to show for it. Even the majority of my portfolio has gone walkabout over the years :\. I've only quite recently rediscovered my love of light-drawing and am still getting to grips with this whole digital camera malarky myself. When it comes to digital, you probably know more than I do :D.

Portrait and the similar functions are not nercessarily amatuerish, in fact with digital cameras it seems to be almost essential. I always found it so much easier to just use lens, shutter, film and focus to achieve such effects but there are just so many settings on digital cameras now that I get lost in them all.

Experimentation is the key. Some amazing effects can be achieved by the simple process of point 'n' hope. Well, that and reading the instruction book, I suppose. Anyway, I really wasn't meaning to take the piss. Truly :).

Hopefully we'll see some more of your shots here and in the competition soonest :D.

EDIT - Truth be known though, I am a cheeky cunt ;).

You're just trying to get on my good side. :p

The flower looks glittery almost don't you think?

I need to stay away from the flowers, hayfever is worst it's ever been and I've taken 2 tablets.
