Lovely pics.

I like your bike ride photos. You live in a beautiful area. Even if it is called Scotland.

aww thanks! :)

it really is a lovely area here, but the inhabitants don't appreciate it in the slightest. we have cliffs and beaches all round the coast(s) and inland we have mountains. it's all motorbike country.

i wasn't actually too delighted with these ones today, i'm still messing about with cletus's DSLR. i love the last one though!

Hey Felix, Pennan! You live near Pennan? Local Hero. The Northern Lights?

Have you seen the Northern Lights up there, ever? I've always had fantasies about coming up there to see them but don't know how reliable that film was. You're gonna tell me they were dubbed on from Finland or something now aren't you? Or worse, you don't know what the fuck I am on about.

Tell me. Northern Lights up there or not?

ah, so you noticed the subtle placement of the most famous telephone box in scotland! :D

umm... to my shame i don't think i've ever seen the northern lights. and looking at some photos now, i think i would have remembered. :(

i think they're more widespread further north. i'm not saying that it was unrealistic in the film, because i know people have definitely seen them in this area. but they're not very common, unfortunately.

i'm sure B9 or F&B mentioned seeing them recently. or maybe i'm making that up.

anyway. Pennan is one of my favourite places in the UK, i love it there. tonight loads of residents and a couple of tourists were out the front with their drinks, just sitting in the sun and enjoying the view. i would love to have a house there. :)

It'd be more novel to have mountains on the coast and cliffs and beaches inland, though :p ;)

Following on from felix's weird little horses, I was out just now and came across these things.

The mummy midget horse is about 1/4 the height of me and the baby midget horse was TINY - aaaaaw :D <3

It trotted over to speak to me and the mum came over and started headbutting it to get it to stay away from me (I must look like a mean mother fucker, even to horses :X :X )

haha! aye, they're ponies, not horses. i don't think i've posted horsey photos yet, but entheo did a few pages back. here are two ponies i met last year:

and the one on the right got bored with me - this is what he did about a minute later:

it was quite unusual to see a horse or pony lying down! very cute though. :)

^ It was the first time I'd seen the little lady pony lying down when I took my shots. But as she'd just squeezed a baby pony out, I thought she could probably do with a rest :). The father was just so cute doing his protective dad bit. Just looking up at me with those big eyes and giving me a "look" if I was getting too close. I've been meaning to post an update (possibly one taken in daylight so they don't look so demonic) but it may turn out to be cutesy Shetland overload :D.

On a related note, I watched a great fillum last night (Black Moon) and it just so happens to feature a talking unicorn. Well, a Shetland with a spike strapped to its head, anyway. This one doesn't just lie down though, oh no - it sits on its arse and chomps daisies on cue. A very well-trained beast in a deeply freaky and mightily fine film :).

It would indeed :D. I await first photographic confirmation of the phenomenon with bated breath :).

What were the dates on the headstones? They look pretty old.
we've got loads of graveyards around here with some pretty ancient gravestones, some of them from the 1600s. a lot of the older ones have the skull & crossbones on them for some reason:

although i'm sure there is a nautical link, i'm not convinced pirates are anything to do with it. i'll try to get some photos. one of them is known locally as 'the pirates' graveyard'. :D
