The Peace Drug (MDMA)

it's therapeutic in the same sense that alcohol is therapeutic

All that alcohol does is blur your senses and give you relief from negative emotions for a short amount of time.

I would not consider alcohol to be a therapeutic at all. However, if I did, I would not consider it to be in the same sense of MDMA what-so-ever.

Alcohol can only help to relieve short-term situations, the effect is only felt while under the influence of the drug. MDMA on the other hand, has shown its long term therapeutic effects over and over again.

Great read. I wasn't aware that there has been a government endorsed MDMA study for so long now.

i would love to have some pharmaceutical grade mdma and a psychologist. i feel like it would do wonders for my mental state. my S.O. has attempted to help in the past, but as smart as she is, she isn't a shrink.

here is hoping that nothing but good things happen as a result of these studies.

It shows you who you would want to be, but someone you can never be.
All experiences are opportunities to learn. Given an appropriate set and setting (and in the case of substances an appropriate dose) there is always an opportunity to learn something positive.

Your statement has a sense of certainty and finality that doesn't describe my experiences with MDMA, and given my perusals of other posts on this thread and in the bluelight forum generally, is at variance with the experiences of quite a few other folks.

And philosophically speaking, something that is 100% fake must by definition be completely different to whatever it is imagined it is meant to represent, thereby making it 100% unique as an original of it's own kind!

I also enjoyed that long read very very much. All I hear Rick Doblin essentially saying by his ballsier imagery is, 'See there? All those partiers knew a good thing when they saw it.'

It would make me very happy to see MDMA get rescheduled for medical applications, because I'm certain it's got a lot of potential to treat (maybe even cure -- a word psychiatrists don't use much) a number of mental health problems.

Washington, DC: I know three people who seem permanently damaged from MDMA usage. My friend J can't get upset at anything- not a friend's traffic death, not the actions of the president, not with his parents- his whole attitude is one big "no worries man" or "it's all good." The guy still works at the same store at age 30 with no house and no girlfriend while the rest of us struggled to buy houses, to make relationships work, get married and now raise kids. Meanwhile J says we "worry too much" about our medical or law school, retirement and careers and plays Super Mario all night. He has a brain and can talk about movies and books, but he no longer has emotions. Is this the life that MDMA creates? No strong highs or lows, just a long string of average with no interests or efforts. If so then why would people suggest this mind-altering drug is beneficial?

I'm not sure wether to laugh or get angry over such a simpleton non-drug user response. If you ask me, I think his friend J has the right idea. By the sounds of things, he doesn't let trivial things get him down, and is living his life to be happy. The poster simply can't understand that and seems to be living in constant stress, having sacrificed all social and recreational activities for study/work/dysfunctional relationships. He should have some MDMA and re-evaluate his life.

It shows you who you would want to be, but someone you can never be.

you're applying this knowledge of yours to hippies et al.
... infact i really really can't be arsed to go on a rant now...

the end of it would probably look something like

"..... so try before you buy

p.s. [buy] can be replaced with [make an assumption]"

Excellent article, I've always done MDMA in the private company of close friends and I agree with what everyone else has said about it's amazing capabilities... It's definitely gotten me a lot closer to all of my friends, and there are many lessons I've learned about people, including myself, along the way.

Melange,

It sound slike you've never experienced the power of MDMA with someone you truly love, or truly loves you.

It's something I could NEVER describe to someone who hasn't experienced it.

I actually feel a little bit sorry for you.
