I don't smoke weed that often as I used to (7 years non stop, then like once a week now) and not being always under some haze I realized something.

When I have any sort of pain (except a headache), weed will actually make me more aware of them for the time that i'm blazed but as the high wears off and I get the couch lock (i always just get to smoke hydro indica buds), the pain wears off with it and then i'm painfree for a while (longer than the high).

What's up with that ? Is thc's painkilling aspect longer lasting than the high ?

The high won't last long. but some other effects are. This is not strange at all.

It's because it's not thc that causes the pain relief it's cbd/n and a few others I cant remember

thc is used best as an anti inflammatory and anti nausea med.

i use it for the chronic inflammation of a Spondoapathy disease, also, i have been experiencing severe nausea the past few months when i dont smoke(im a walking health freak show), and noticed that both symptoms will begin to become more severe after several days of smoking what im not accustomed to.

2 days ago, the nausea progressed to the point that i was vomiting violently after being awake 20 minutes... since i harvested a plant, ive had no hiccups, stomach flips, or the even notion that i may be puking my guts out at all...

I find weed is really good for pain. It is sad that we are denying such a non-addictive painkiller to so many people. It seems to take the sharpness of the pain away. Weed for me kinda turns my thoughts into a bouncy ball. I can't focus on the pain as much so it allows it to be more dull. I suffer from some really bad headaches and weed is the only thing that helps. Nausea from other drugs I take can be a problem weed seems to help that.
As for it lasting longer than the "high". I think the high can be found if you take the time to think about it and pay attention to your body. I think the painkilling properties can last longer than the "body vibrating high".

Honestly, I don't think weed is nearly as effective at painkilling as opiates are. It is fantastic for nausea though, I know when my monthly visitor comes about, weed helps me be hungry and keep food down. I need to take some sort of NSAID to deal with the pain usually, but opiates work as well...pot doesn't seem to be able to dull extreme pain for me.

CBD's for general pain, phantom pains, neurological pain etc. yeah. THC though, is most useful as an anti inflammatory, it also regulates your immune system.

ill be looking for seeds or clones of that for sure ford442, t/y for the link.

i use medical marijuana every day, for chronic pain, nausea, and inflammation. i also take opioids, there is some pain that no pot, no matter how good it is will help with like opiates do, darn it.

Apparently there are strains of herb that are low in THC but very high in CBD and CBN.

Here's the link that ford442 posted yesterday:

Anyone know which strains/types of herb are like this?

I know that when I am in pain (chronic pain, not acute pain from an injury or something) weed is the only thing that helps. I have fibromyalgia and i swear it will cut the edge off of it within ten minutes. Nausea gone, aches WAY better... I was on Fentanyl a couple years ago for the pain and it didn't even help me the way pot does. It frustrates me to no end that it's not legal for pain relief. People develop deadly addictions to opiates, yet they can't legalize pot. Sad.

the CBD plant sounds like a BC Seeds creation, they have a 50/50 bud, which is supposed to be 50%THC and 50%CBx'x, buuut that sounds kind of outlandish, they have some very very expensive seed pack, like $1200 for 10-12 seeds...

i couldnt lol, and dont know if i would buy, or believe that...
the CBD plant, yeah, and man i hope so! ...cause ill be looking out for any clones.

id compare the effects of a joint of some medical bud(15%+THC, .7%+CBx) to 25mg of hydrocodone(CWE).

i have a syronegative spondoapathy - ankylosing spondyliitis
bi-lateral sacroiliitis
pelvic sclerosis
left knee tendon & patella deterioration
osteo-arthritis
leukocytosis
anemia
pleurisy
costocondritis(tietze's?)

and other fun stuff... :\ the pleurisy and costocondritis/tietze's are only truly manageable and bearable with narcotics.

i take humira(TNF-Pain Blocker) every ten days, thats a "high tech" anti inflammatory, very dangerous, and very very expensive. that takes care of maybe 40-60% of the inflammation through out my body, but the symptoms would still be outstanding w/o mmj.

the pain, and mental exhaustion from tolerating it is also made easier with mmj, i will often go 2-5 days with zero appetite also, so enough of the right stuff will get me to stuff my face! i cant keep food down well with out it either; i lost 50lbs in like 50 days after a negative reaction to remicaid, another TNF, so yeah, i need the munchies.... bad!

I remember the first time I got high I had a headache at the time and it made me more aware of it, but as the high progressed, it kind of faded away, probably just because I totally forgot about it.
