The Origin of 4-MMC

4-methylmethcathinone is hitting the markets bigtime.

I'm trying to establish a cohesive conception and evolution of this compound.

It's much of a designer drug. I can't say for sure that it's better than methcathinone (i never tried it) but its more lipophilic and it crosses the blood brain barrier better than the former.
The 4-methyl prevents it from being metabolised into 4-hydroxyephedrine/PPA (which is known to the chemical that makes amphetamine/meth neurotoxic) but studies have confirmed that 4-methylamphetamine is neurotoxic to monoaminergic glial cells.
The 4-methylephedrine metabolite however is a stronger vasoconstricting agent than ephedrine itself giving it more vasoconstricting toxicity.

The most neurotoxic metabolite of common amphetamines is alpha-methyldopamine/(nor)adrenaline which fucks up a few neurons before being oxidized by MAO.
I guess thats why non neurotoxic analogues of MDMA like IAP and methyl-IAP have been invented.
I don't think simple beta hydroxyls is responsible for neurotoxicity but seems to enhance vasoconstriction a lot hence why PPA and Ephedrine have been widely removed from the market.

Personally I would not be so enthusiastic to try it.

I've been under the impression that it first appeared as party pills coming out of Israel, but I can't remember where I read that if it's true.

Its flooded the markets in the UK especially.

I can personally account that its subjectively warm and stimulating but withouht the 'hard' push of either methamphetamine or MDMA.

Do you think that the conception was incidental to psychedelic research or a specifically designed compound for mass market consumption ?

The initial synth was on The Hive, i thought, just some guy cooking up a batch of it and tasting it to see what it did.

Something that came on my mind long ago was beta-keto-methyl-IAP.
Wold be very interested in reading some documentation if it will be ever synthetized.

described in a hive post from 8 or so years ago. then marketed originally in Israel as Hagigat and in various legal high pills which were widely distributed a couple of years ago.
then more recently chinese custom synthesized bulk material appearing relatively cheaply everywhere.
