* state government agencies. We are not arguing against the need for state agencies. We are arguing against central departments that oversee all the state angencies. A central angency, uniting state departments, certainly sounds appealing and more efficient, but that central agency only gets in the way of state departments by adding more bureaucracy(rules and regulations).

You brought up the Police/Firefighter and I was speaking about that.

Coolio said:
The difference Jeebus, is that firemen don't carry guns, and they don't threaten me with violence or imprisonment when I don't do what they say.

That doesnt really have anything to do with anything you were talking about.

Jeebus Mic said:
You brought up the Police/Firefighter and I was speaking about that.

I did not bring up firefighters, Coolio did. I brought up state agencies vs federal agencies. You both are arguing on the state level, which doesn't matter because Ron Paul supports States' Rights.

60 Minutes Ron Paul Profile?

FreeMarketNews
September 10, 2007

Though Ron Paul campaign officials will not admit it, or even breathe a word about it, media sources confirm that CBS' 60 Minutes expects to negotiate or film a segment at presidential candidate's Ron Paul's Washington office. The producers, and perhaps cameras, arrived there Monday morning, sources said. Ron Paul officials remain mum.

Media has exploded for Ron Paul since his breakthrough debate with Mike Huckabee over the war in Iraq. Ron Paul, a pro-free market, anti-foreign war candidate has found his niche deriding the formal conservatism of "right wing" Republicans who are nationalist, populist and pro- big government.

Also, as FMNN has already reported, CNN remains in negotations for a Ron Paul (R-Tex) debate with Mike Huckabee and negotiations over the candidate's appearance on O'Reilly tonight appear to have been worked out, as Ron Paul's own website announced this morning. O'Reilly's site carries the following: "Showdown Over Iraq: Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul goes head-to-head with Bill." Stay tuned.

Paul Poses Serious Threat to Hillary Clinton in a General Election Match up
Larry Fester
Published 09/12/2007 - 8:44 p.m. EDT

Analysis: The antiwar Republican congressman from Texas poses a serious threat to Hillary Clinton and potential Democratic rivals in the general election.

The presidential race has to a great extent turned into a two issue campaign, immigration and the war in Iraq. Democratic candidates are capitalizing on popular antiwar sentiments among the public but are swimming up stream by apparently supporting President Bush’s policy of turning a blind eye toward illegal immigration and unsecured borders.

Republicans running for president, unless sentiments change, are generally positioned against public opinion with their support for the war, however, they are riding the tide of public opinion when it comes to securing the borders and stopping illegal immigration and terrorists from entering the country. (Even if half of them are faking it)

Two Presidential candidates, Tom Tancredo and Ron Paul, clearly support protecting U.S. borders from illegal immigration and terrorist attacks. Both candidates have opposed President Bush’s seeming support of the Council On Foreign Relations plans to replace the United States with a North American Union by integrating North America and erasing national boundaries.

Ron Paul sets himself apart from other Republicans by being decidedly antiwar. In a general election this may actually put Paul at a decided advantage over Hillary Clinton and most of her Democratic rivals. Paul will likely steal the thunder from Clinton’s antiwar rhetoric since he voted against the Iraq war that Hillary Clinton voted for.

At least among those voters that believe the Iraq war was a mistake, including Democrats, Paul will demonstrate his foresight was better than Clinton’s.

In a general election on the issue of protecting U.S. borders, Paul would likely ride public opinion with his support for protecting U.S. borders while Clinton would be positioned against public opinion.

Paul is generally considered more credible with his popular positions on the war and immigration than his Democratic rivals.

Paul certainly isn’t the only Republican that would give Clinton a run for her money he is however, the only Republican that would be getting energized support from both Republican and the Democratic base voters.

Of course, winning the Republican primary is still an uphill battle at this point, unless of course Paul can effectively argue that he is the most likely Republican to win a general election, which only GOP primary voters can decide

So far, no one has challenged my defense in the legal thread.
I fear I may have no choice but to deny the plea and stand for liberty, justice, and Human Rights.

Presidential hopeful Ron Paul sees crises ahead for country

By David Postman
Seattle Times chief political reporter

Texas Congressman Ron Paul said in Seattle on Friday that America is approaching an economic and constitutional crisis due to growing debt, bad trade deals and assaults on personal liberty.

And even if he beat all the odds and won the presidency next year, he said, the problem would be beyond what he alone could fix.

"The time is coming. I believe that the great debate is coming," Paul told more than 400 mostly young people who attended his constitutional lecture at Seattle University.

"We have become soft on the issue of liberty and we have become more concerned about our personal safety and our personal economic well-being and an illusionary trust that government can make us perfectly safe and protect us perfectly in an economic way," he said.

Paul said young people will have to decide whether to go along with the "clichés" that say the Constitution is a living, flexible document.

"It is a philosophical struggle," he said. "If you are for a strict interpretation of the Constitution, if you are truly for liberty and for limited government ... then the law will come along."

For Paul, who ran for president as a Libertarian in 1988, a strict interpretation of the Constitution would mean a lot of changes. Talking to KIRO-AM (710) host Dori Monson earlier in the day, Paul said he thought the government could be cut by 80 percent. That'd be enough that there'd be no need for the income tax or a replacement tax, he said.

At Seattle University, he said Congress has willingly given away far too much power to the executive branch, particularly when it comes to foreign policy. He said the president is commander in chief of the military, but "he's not commander in chief of the people of the country."

Congress should reassert itself with trade policy as well, he said, and not leave the administration to set tariffs or make deals with "WTO or NAFTA or CAFTA," trade agreements he pronounced with such disdain they sounded like diseases.

States, Paul said, should rely on a principle in the Constitution that allows them to ignore decisions by federal courts on issues that could be described as dealing with states' rights.

"I see the Constitution as being written precisely for one purpose -- to restrain the power of government; never to restrain the people," he said to great applause.

Paul had a full day of events in Seattle, including fundraisers and rallies. Speeches have become rarer in presidential politics. Some candidates come to town with no public appearances, or only for base-building rallies.

The lecture was organized by Seattle University law students. What's the appeal of Paul to the young supporters?

"Everything," said Malisa Gurule, a third-year law student who headed the drive to get Paul on campus.

Gurule, 25, said she had never donated to a presidential candidate until she saw Paul in the Republican debates. She's also never voted in a presidential primary or been involved in a caucus, though she says she will do whatever is needed to help Paul get the GOP nomination.

"He's the only person saying something different," she said. "He's not afraid to attack the status quo."

Geeks Turn Out for Ron Paul

By Sarah Lai Stirland 09.14.07 | 10:30 AM
Wired

SAN FRANCISCO -- Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul was given a warm reception in this liberal stronghold Thursday as Silicon Valley professionals turned out to support his long-shot campaign.

At a fundraiser at San Francisco's swanky Palace Hotel, a 40-odd group of Ron Paul supporters paid $500 a head to have breakfast with "Dr. Paul," as they call him. Outside, a large group of supporters chanted their support. Cars honked, and passers-by joined in the chanting.

"Ron Paul!" they shouted. "Freedom!"

Inside, supporters could hear the passionate chants from the street through the thick hotel windows as the Texas congressman ended his morning speech. A polite chuckle rumbled through the room.

The breakfast attendees and the supporters on the street were mostly young white men who appeared to be white-collar professionals. Several of those interviewed by Wired News worked in the technology business.

As campaign finance records show and the blogosphere has noted, a substantial base of support for Paul comes from professionals in the technology community.

"People in the technology industry tend to be more educated, and more intelligent," said Jeffrey Schwartz, a Paul supporter who organized the fundraiser through Meetup. Schwartz is a psychiatrist and a long-time libertarian.

He said Paul appeals to people who like the politician's message of "freedom."

Among the Republican candidates, Paul enjoys a unique position on the internet. His supporters are particularly wired, using Meetup and Eventful to organize events and fundraisers. Supporters expend a lot of energy pumping up his stats on YouTube, Technorati and online polls.

Paul is on a fundraising tour of the West Coast this week. On Thursday, Paul spent the morning and lunch in San Francisco, and had plans to meet and greet Silicon Valley supporters in Palo Alto, California, at a $2,000-a-head dinner. In total, the campaign expects to net $100,000 from its Thursday fundraising efforts.

Matt Nocerino brought his 11-year-old son to hear Paul's message of limited government.

Nocerino is a technologist from Walnut Creek, California. He is part of a team that develops Verizon Wireless' website. Nocerino also described himself as a libertarian who supported Ronald Reagan.

His said technologists support Paul because they're detail freaks. "When you work in technology, a lot of the time you have to scrutinize details," he says. "Sound bites are not enough."

Nocerino and others at the breakfast said they did not think of themselves as Republicans or Democrats -- that their political affiliations are fluid.

What drives them, said Paul supporter Hana Bernard of Sacramento, California, is the sense that their candidate is treated unfairly by the media.

"They're telling us that he can't win," she said. But both she and other supporters point to Technorati and YouTube statistics as evidence that Paul's support is wide and deep -- even though that hasn't translated into support in traditional polling numbers or campaign finance cash.

"He's the most searched for human being on Technorati from May this year apart from Paris Hilton," said Schwartz. "Doesn't that tell you something?"

Paul has spine
Bill Walker, Warner

For the Monitor
September 15. 2007 12:01AM

Playing bait and switch. Flip-flopping. Dodging questions.

These are the things that most politicians do and why many of us don't bother to vote. Whatever side of their mouth politicians are talking out of, it's almost certain that they're lying. If these are our choices and, more important, if these are the people whom we willingly endorse for president, is it any wonder that things in this country are getting worse?

Who is elected president says a lot about the moral and ethical character of the people doing the electing. The people who say, "So what, and who cares?" and don't even bother voting wind up with politicians whose attitude is the same toward them: "So what, and who cares?" I want a candidate who will represent the people, not rich special interests. I want a candidate who is consistent in his message and truthful when questioned about his beliefs, and who stands by his values even under fire. That candidate is Ron Paul.

In his 10 terms as U.S. congressman, Dr. Paul has never deviated from his message of smaller, less intrusive government, fiscal restraint and personal responsibility. The United States of America will never get any better unless We the People have spine. Ron Paul has spine, and when I vote for him, that will say a lot about me. How about you?

NH Republican Rally: A Huge Success!
Hundreds of New Hampshire Republicans attended our first-ever Republican Rally in Veteran's Park Sunday. We thank all who attended and who helped to make this a successful day. Thanks to all the great bands who played for us: Embur, Fetish Chicken, Drift Session, Mind Set X, Good Morning Chester, and Chad LaMarsh. Thanks to guest speakers Rep. Jeb Bradley, Joe Kenney, and John Cox.

The results of the Presidential Straw Poll were:

Ron Paul 66%
Fred Thompson 10%
Rudy Giuliani 9%
Mike Huckabee 7%
Mitt Romney 3%
Tom Tancredo 2%
John Cox 2%
John McCain 1%
Sam Brownback .5%

http://www.manchestergop.com/

^ I voted in this straw poll and the park was full of Ron Paul supporters. The only other candidates who even had supporters passing out literature or stickers were Fred Thompson and Rudy Giuliani, but they each had 2 people with a small table. Ron Paul supporters made a big tent and had at least a hundred people walking around wearing Ron Paul t-shirts.

The Sunlight Rule

Ron Paul

Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis famously said “Sunlight is the best disinfectant.” Indeed some of the most malignant growth of our government has been nurtured under a cover of darkness.

Literally, in the dark hours of the morning at the end of the year, it has become tradition for the Appropriations committee to rush the famous omnibus bill to the floor for a vote, mere hours after it is introduced. The vote took place at 4 am the last time an omnibus spending bill was before us. We had all of 4 hours to deliberate on almost 1400 pages of important legislation. My colleagues somehow found this acceptable, however, and the bill passed 212-206.

The bill for the Expansion of the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) was also rushed to the floor with little time to examine the lengthy text of the legislation. If approved by the Senate this measure would increase taxes by an additional $53.8 billion over 5 years and further extend the federal government’s reach into the healthcare of American citizens. Similar processes were followed for raising the minimum wage, providing funding for stem cell research and implementing the 9-11 conference.

Of course, the most well-known example of this phenomenon might be the Patriot Act. Legislators passed the 300+ page bill less than a day after it was introduced, many out of an urgency to do something. But we are sent to Washington to make informed decisions on public policy. The very least constituents expect is that their elected representatives read the legislation citizens will be subject to, and taxed for. And once they have read it, to weigh the constitutionality and the merits of the legislation. How can lawmakers possibly do that without reasonable time allotted?

This has long been a concern of mine, and for this reason I have reintroduced The Sunlight Rule. (H.RES 63) This proposed rule stipulates that no piece of legislation can be brought before the House of Representatives for a vote unless it has been available to members and staff to read for at least ten days. Any amendments must be available for at least 72 hours before a vote. The Sunlight Rule provides the American people the opportunity to be involved in enforcing congressional rules by allowing citizens to move for censure of any Representative who votes for a bill brought to the floor in violation of this act.

So far I have two co-sponsors. It is my belief that this simple new rule could greatly disinfect the House of the creeping, insidious growth, merely by shining the light on legislation before it is voted on. We need time to think before we enact. The American people deserve at least this much from their Congress.

Ron Paul Reminds Us of Our Freedom

John Ozberkmen
National Expositor
Monday September 17, 2007

It is a faint memory. Something very basic, yet something which we have let ourselves become a stranger to. We run through our daily routine, go to work, pick up the kids, get dinner ready, and our busy schedule causes us to forget. What is it? It is simple. We are free.

Today, I walked into an auditorium filled with a couple thousand people. People I have never met before but who were all looking for the same thing I was. Freedom. I don’t want to work one fourth of my year paying federal taxes. I don’t want to ask permission from a government worker for a permit to redo my bathroom. I should have never had to ask the government for a license to marry my beautiful wife. I can’t start a business without asking permission. We were taught in school that we live in a free country. At what point do we finally become free?

The mainstream media will tell you that you’re crazy. He has no chance. Don’t listen to this man. What he says is bad for you. But today I found out none of it is true. Today, I saw Ron Paul stand up in front of more people then the media wants to admit, and tell me and everyone else that we are free and we don’t have to take it anymore.

Thunderous applause was what the crowd gave Dr. Paul in return for his simple message. I’m not talking about regular clapping you would hear at any establishment political event. I’m talking about thunderous, foot stomping, chest shaking sound, emanating from the crowd. No longer could the mainstream media make me feel like I was alone. I was surrounded today by thousands of people who know the same thing I do. I am free. I do not need to tell you about the individual points of Ron Paul’s speech. I will tell you what I heard the people around me in the crowd saying.

A man standing next to me said, “Thank god someone is finally telling us the truth.” I looked over at another gentleman and noticed he had tears in his eyes while clapping. On the way out after the event I heard a woman say to her husband, “That man has the hand of god on his shoulders.” Her husband replied, “He’s the only one standing up for us.”

Shakespeare lent me the feeling I had today. From Henry the V, “We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; For he today that sheds his blood with me shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile, This day shall gentle his condition: And gentlemen in England now a-bed Shall think themselves accursed they were not here, And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day.”

I was there. My manhood remains intact. Where were you?

Ron Paul Utah turnout wows candidate

Sheena McFarland
Salt Lake Tribune
Monday September 17, 2007

More than 1,000 people gathered Saturday at the Union Pacific Depot in Salt Lake City to rally behind U.S. Rep. Ron Paul in his bid for the Republican presidential nomination.

Paul, an obstetrician from Texas, was impressed with the turnout.
"Wow. If they only knew you existed over in Washington, they'd change things over there," he said as he greeted the cheering crowd.

Paul spoke fervently of his support of smaller government, including the abolition of agencies, such as the Internal Revenue Service, and of his support for strictly following the Constitution. He also spoke out against the war in Iraq and any pre-emptive military action.

"Because of our careless attitude about foreign policy and how we go to war, we have allowed our government to build an American world empire," he said. "We are not an empire. We're a republic."

Paul's stances on such topics are "clearly proven" in his voting record, which has earned him the nickname of "Dr. No" in the House of Representatives, said supporter Ronald Levine Saturday.

"I tell people not to listen to what a candidate says before an election or what he does," he said. "I tell them to look at what he has consistently done for the past 20 years."

That voting record is what drives his grass-roots supporters, said Mark Hudson of Syracuse.

"He is the only candidate who attracts everyone from libertarians to constitutional conservatives to true conservatives," Hudson said.

Paul visited Utah for the free rally and for a $1,000-a-plate brunch that drew fewer than 20 supporters and a $2,000-per-plate dinner. He is the eighth presidential candidate to visit Utah, the fourth Republican. Paul had raised about $13,000 in Utah as of the June 30 filing, according to the Federal Elections Commission.

Though polls show Paul garnering an average of only 2 percent of potential voters, many of his supporters believe the polls don't accurately show how many people support him.

"He's the only candidate I've seen homemade signs for," said Tom Salt, who is studying mechanical engineering at Brigham Young University.
Salt sees many young people supporting Paul.

"We look at his principles and we're too young to be cynical about his chances," Salt said.

The mainstream media has not treated Paul fairly, said Jed Hardman of Springville, and neither have some of the other Republicans in the race, pointing to Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney "openly mocking" Paul after debates.

"They're afraid because as soon as such a true conservative emerges, one who is anti-abortion and has conservative views on taxes, they're going to lose," he said.

As if Neo CON deception wasn't blatant enough, by REMOVING Ron Paul for WINNING their poll, now the national GOP Straw Poll has removed the category of "NONE", after news stories were beginning to report that "NONE" represented the vote for Ron Paul!

Quoting:

Since the GOP Strawpoll banned Ron Paul from its online poll, Ron Paul supporters have been flooding the site. Result: 'None' is winning the poll. (It should be noted emphatically that neither FMNN nor the Ron Paul campaign encourages any spamming of any kind in support of this rapidly advancing presidential candidate.) FMNN reported on the banning today, "Let the Banning Begin," here:

http://www.freemarketnews.com/WorldNews.asp?nid=49045

Results: 'None' has forged ahead of the second leading candidate, Romney, as of 1:30 PM/ETA

(none) 951 (40.3%)
Romney 699 (29.6%)
F. Thompson 264 (11.2%)
Huckabee 120 (5.1%)
Giuliani 99 (4.2%)
Hunter 68 (2.9%)
Gingrich 65 (2.8%)
Tancredo 59 (2.5%)
McCain 24 (1%)
Brownback 10 (0.4%)
Paul 1 (0%)

FMNN has received a good deal of feedback on this issue. Some feedbacker comments below: . . .

And, if you'll notice, they even had the GALL to put Paul's name back in the list, with a so-called rating of zero percent, even though they DON'T ALLOW PEOPLE TO VOTE FOR RON PAUL! AND EVEN THOUGH WHEN THEY WERE ALLOWING VOTES FOR HIM, HE WAS BLOWING THE COMPETITION AWAY!
http://www.ronpaulfan.com/2007/09/18/alert-gop-straw-poll-removes-the-none-option-gives-paul-0/

Yes this is absolutely intolerable, but then the GOP is chock-full of all kinds of dispicable characters. Is it possible he could have better chances running as an independent? ..or even in the Democratic Party?

That may end up being what happens. Ron Paul's support transcends party lines. Although he has explicitly said he would not run as an independent, I can't imagine him giving up just because he doesn't get the Republican nomination.

I don't personally believe the Republican party would ever nominate someone who they can't control and blackmail (Google: Republican + scandal or Republican + blackmail) :\ (this is no reason not to try as hard as you can! Heck, I don't even live in the darn country.)

Unfortunately, with the systemic fraud of the last two elections and touch screen voting being a non-issue at the moment, even if Dr. Paul were to win as an independent by a large margin, I doubt he would become President.

In my opinion, U.S. elections are little more than a dog and pony show. Republican/Democrat is a false dichotomy. Whether its "right wing" or "left wing", its still the same vulture. :\

Constitution Party Religious nutjobs Endorse Ron Paul

By Michael Anthony Peroutka

The following statement has been issued by Michael Anthony Peroutka, the Presidential candidate of the Constitution Party in 2004. He is also co-founder, with his brother Steve, of “Institute On The Constitution.” And he is co-host, with John Lofton, of “The American View” radio show.

I endorse Rep. Ron Paul for President. And I endorse him not because he is the lesser of two evils. A Christian can never endorse any kind of evil. I endorse Rep. Paul because — from a Christian/Biblical and Constitutional perspective – he is, by far, the best candidate running for President.

— Rep. Paul believes, correctly, that the Bible is the infallible, inerrant word of God and thus it is not the role of God-ordained civil government, at any level, to feed, house, clothe or educate anybody.

— Rep. Paul takes his oath to God as a Congressman seriously and believes, correctly, that the Constitution is the highest man-made law in our land, that it severely restricts what the Federal Government can legally do, and it must be obeyed. This is why, as he states on his campaign web site, he has: never voted to raise taxes; never voted for an unbalanced budget; never voted for a Federal restriction on gun ownership; never voted to raise Congressional pay; never taken a government-paid junket; and has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.

In addition, Rep. Paul has voted against: the Patriot Act; regulating the Internet; and he voted against the Iraq war. He does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program. He returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year.

Rep. Paul, again correctly, is truly pro-life and believes that there are no circumstances under which it is OK to murder by abortion any innocent unborn babies.

Another admirable characteristic demonstrated repeatedly by Rep. Paul is that he speaks honestly and plainly. In one of the recent GOP candidate debates, re: the Iraq war, he said: “Yes, I would leave. I would leave completely” – no troops in the region there, none. Period. He added: “We need a new foreign policy…to mind our own business, bring our troops home, defend this country, defend our borders.”

When his questioner dishonestly accused him of saying that we should take our marching orders from Al Qaida who also want us to withdraw from the Arabian Peninsula, Rep. Paul replied: “I’m saying we should take our marching orders from our Constitution. We should not go to war without a declaration. We should not go to war when it’s an aggressive war. This is an aggressive invasion. We’ve committed the invasion of this war. [The Constitution is] where I take my marching orders, not from any enemy.”

Well, amen!, Rep. Paul. God bless you, sir, and your family as you proceed in this campaign. And God does bless us when we obey Him.

Rep. Ron Paul is a real patriot who understands that true love of country requires, first, trusting in God’s Providence and next obedience to our Constitution. He is a man who rejects mindless jingoism such as “My country right or wrong.” Instead, he believes that when our country is wrong – as it is today in many ways — true patriots must work to set us right. As President, Ron Paul, I believe, would work Christianly and Constitutionally to set our country right. This is why, in good conscience, I endorse his candidacy for President of the United States.
