Ron Paul's internet supporters never fail to crash and skew a poll.

Irrelevant - what about the real response - applause - at the debate?

And... what was Romney's response? :(

Further on that - why does Ron Paul have internet support?

Why don't the other candidates?

I mean...
Support is support, isn't it?

So what if Ron Paul's support is online?
At least it's real support.

Money donations from the military?
Ron Paul received more than any other candidate. (If I remember correctly 53% of ALL military campaign contributions - that may have been 53% of the Rep candidates, but I think it was ALL)

How do you challenge that stuff?

Its a start. How many people are put in jail for marijuana possession each year in New York and California alone? Perhaps more states would move to decriminalize or legalize marijuana and other drugs if they knew the DEA wouldn't disregard the laws and arrest doctors, grandmothers and the terminally ill.

perhaps they would.

There have been many "pro-life" administrations and none have overturned Roe v. Wade. My personal position is that I support choice but also life. This is one of the positions I differ with. Also living in Canada, its hard for me to argue against universal health coverage.

i could not support a 'pro life' administration in the current climate. certainly not one headed up by a self-proclaimed warrior against abortion.

Are you not your neighbor's neighbor? If people saw themselves as actually having real power and a voice that could make a difference, rather than simply an unheard voice in a crowd of 300 million other unheard voices, perhaps the current pervasive attitude of hopelessness and complacence towards politics could be shifted in a more positive direction...

an admirable sentiment. but not one, as far as i can see, which is linked exclusively to a vote for one particular candidate ;)

The media shun him and fix the debate results or hide them when he wins them...I mean what is going on, it's the stuff of conspiracy theories.

Dr. Seuss, while I am personally inclined to agree with you on the "pro-life" issue, I can also understand and respect Ron Paul's position.

Two years after leaving medical school, Paul worked in the emergency room of a church hospital in San Antonio for a wage of $3 an hour. Paul later specialized in obstetrics and gynecology where he delivered more than 4,000 babies. He took over the medical practice of a retiring doctor in Lake Jackson, Texas, where he was busy as the only obstetrician and gynecologist in Brazoria County. Paul said of his time as a doctor, "I delivered forty to fifty babies a month and did a lot of surgery."[18] Dr. Paul did not accept Medicare or Medicaid as a physician; instead, he worked for free or arranged discounted or custom payment plans for needy patients.[14][19]

If I had personally delivered over 4,000 babies, I might have a different perspective on the issue. I don't agree with Ron Paul on every issue, it's his overall message and integrity, especially in comparison to the other "cookie-cutter" candidates that makes him so refreshing and appealing to me...

Abortion is the least of America's problems, in fact it's one of those stupid "values" wedge issues that is used to divert attention from real issues.

i can understand where he's coming from too, 1111 (apologies for contracting your name, it's just easier... you can call me drs if you want ;)). my mother in law is a conservative christian midwife of 35 years, and her position is unsurprisingly somewhat similar!

i also agree that in many ways his approach is refreshing and distinctive.

Abortion is the least of America's problems, in fact it's one of those stupid "values" wedge issues that is used to divert attention from real issues.

it's quite important to a lot of women. women in counties without abortion providers, women in developing nations held hostage to white house opinion...

personally i find the 'end of US aid to foreign countries' thing a bit more troublesome.

^^^I don't find it troublesome, I find it great! We cease supporting corrupt regimes which often oppress their own people! I can't help but think there's a little bit of the "white man's burden" mentality in those people who think that the Third World will go to shit if the US government withdraws its support.

Ron Paul was on FOX yesterday and I thought it was actually a pretty decent interview. The host seemed much less biased in my opinion than the O'Reily, Hannity & Colmes often are. Paul was directly questioned about 9/11 and was also asked to justify why he has gone on the Alex Jones show. I think he responded quite well.

Ron Paul said:
"Just think what it would be like if only I could go on TV stations, the major TV networks, when I knew they agreed with me - all of the major networks agreed with the war - that meant I could never be on any major TV network,"

"Of course I don't support everything he says but people that I associate with, I don't endorse their views they come over to associate with me to endorse my views or I'm just expressing my views - but there'd be no way I could be on television if that was the litmus test - that I had to agree with everything they stood for and what they promoted - it just wouldn't work,"

but you also cease all other foreign aid as well.

i don't think the Third World will go to shit without US government assistance.

but nor do i think it will necessarily improve. taking your ball and going home is not a suitable response to the challenge of (say) endemic corruption.

GOP's Ron Paul keeps building support despite naysayers

This Texan just isn't going away anytime soon. Ron Paul's growing base of support and money for the coffers has GOP stalwarts scratching their heads.

East Texas congressman Paul has galvanized a cross-section of all parties and affiliations that are hungry for a politician who is less of a political animal, and more of a straight shooter.

Paul, 71, is considered by many to be a long shot for the Republican nomination, but that seems to have only stoked his supporters to grassroots educate the uninformed, and coordinate a Howard Dean-like campaign under the radar and on the Internet.

ABC News reports that the building juggernaut of Paul's supporters has helped him raise $3 million over the past three months.

Paul touts classic old Republican values of small government, low taxes and minimal foreign intervention.

ABC reports that Paul is careful with his campaign donations, just spending $650,000 this year, the third-least of all 2008 presidential candidates, according to federal campaign finance reports ABC used as a reference.

Dr. Paul is an obstetrician-gynecologist and former Air Force flight surgeon, and has been opposed to the Iraq war from the beginning. The congressman's controversial views on abolishing the IRS, Education Department and Energy Department have some people worried.

According to ABC, Paul is pro-life and opposes the death penalty and abortion, and votes against military appropriations and gun control.

Paul spokesman Jesse Benton told ABC news that Paul has some work to accomplish before the first votes for the nomination are cast in about five months. "The campaign just bought its first radio ads in Iowa and New Hampshire and has nearly tripled its staff to 25 in the past month," reports ABC.

"We realize the odds are still pretty long for Dr. Paul, but we think that Ron is a real legitimate player now that people are starting to pay attention," Benton C.

ABC quoted satirist Stephen Colbert who quipped to Paul on his mock right-wing talk show, "You are an enigma wrapped in a riddle nestled in a sesame seed bun of mystery."

GOP's Ron Paul tops Drudge GOP debate poll

Stone Martindale
Monsters & Critics
Monday Aug 6, 2007

GOP candidate Ron Paul latest news shows that in a Matt Drudge (Drudge Report) initiated poll of which GOP presidential hopeful won the debate in Iowa, the leader with 45% of the vote was, Ron Paul.

Dr. Paul, an East Texas Doctor and congressman, has quietly stepped into the Howard Dean and Ross Perot slot of the upcoming election, and signs of his support seem to be growing based on the latest numbers cited on CNN today.

ABC News and NBC both have reported that Dr. Paul, an OB/GYN, has Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, Green Party and Independents among his base of support. He also appeals to conservative voters opposed to abortion, the UN, the I.R.S. and U.S. Military interventions in foreign countries.

Paul supporters say his views on abortion are his own personal feelings, and he prefers to leave the decisions of legislation up to each individual state and its constituents.

Recently the AP reported and wrote "The enthusiasm has boosted his national profile but hasn't translated into widespread voter support in the polls."

His longevity remains to be seen, but there can be no denying his run for the presidency is gaining in momentum and interest from voters.

Today, Drudge posted the poll results from the Iowa debate:

DRUDGE POLL: WHO WON THE REPUBLICAN DEBATE IN IOWA?

Brownback 6% 700
Giuliani 20% 2,594
Huckabee 4% 482
Hunter 2% 260
McCain 2% 275
Paul 45% 5,665
Romney 16% 2,057
Tancredo 3% 429
Tommy Thompson 2% 256

Total Votes: 12,718

Fine by me considering the major media gives as little time as possible to anyone except McCain, Guiliani, Obama, Hillary or Edwards... hell even Romney.

And i can't wait for the Green or Libertarians to offer up canidates. Those will be completely ignored too.

The illusion of bi-partisan coverage (forget non-partisan) is bullshit. I'm fine with Ron Paul fanboys doing whatever they can to garnish attention for him, they're fighting a multibillion dollar corporations who think they'll decide the election for us b/c the people they've chosen get good on-air ratings and that's good for their pocketbook and commerical supporters.

Here's about an hour's worth of one Ron Paul interview in New Hampshire. He talks in much detail a gamut of issues asked by the voters. Currently less than 400 have viewed all 6 episodes, but it is the most informative piece straight from the source (and no cheesy theme song :D ). Fairly hosted, not a hit job, questions about his platforms and methods. Please check it out, share it with fellow supporters and the undecided.

well first off go to ron paul's official website and watch the video with him at the nation pro-life conference and that explains a lot about his feelings on the issue. Also, nobody bothered to point out that ron paul does not want to make abortion illegal. So many people dont understand that making abortion illegal and overturning roe V. wade are not the same thing.

Considerring that the 3rd world provide the dirt cheap manufacturing base that drives western capitalism there may be a trickle down effect.

^^ The regimes that would most likely deemed "corupt" and "oppressive" are not likely to be those same countries that provide chap manufacturing labor. After all, how often do you see "Made in Iran" on anything?
