The joy that a large number of my fellow Americans seem to get from this sport embarasses me.

when i was in college i worked in a beverage center (big mistake, the monkey shouldn't be selling the bananas), and i would be watching baseball during the day on the weekends. people would come in and in all seriousness ask: "how come you aren't watching the race?" as they paid for their thirty packs of miller lite or whatever the fuck.

there is no suitable answer for that question. why would i waste all day watching cars go in circles when i could have just as much fun watching the paint chip? most things that people use to criticize america i have a smart ass retort for, but in this instance i just hang my head in shame.
