had any of those threads actually stuck to their topic. there would have been a justification for keeping them separate. but as none of them remained on topic and all ended up general covid threads, the decision was made to merge them.
bluelight isn't a workplace. we are volunteers.
there are a lot of biases in our usership though they will accuse you of lacking critical thinking skills when you point out their own sources contradict them.
why don't you check out vincent racaniellos youtube intro to virology as a start for a source?

You know what, you're right. I made an assumption that you didn't read books.
I made that assumption because you made some incredibly dubious comments about basic vaccine/virus science that has been established in books for several decades now. Basic scientific concepts that anyone, even 13 year old kids probably know by now after 2 years of the pandemic. This is why I thought maybe you didn't read books.

and @chinup is right, the reason these threads keep getting merged is because 90% of the discussion is simply bickering and not conducive to a real discussion at all
I am no angel and have contributed to that, but pretty much everyone in these threads is guilty.
The right won't believe anything the left says, and the left won't buy into any fantastical speculations. It goes NOWHERE. Every thread goes nowhere.
Honestly the only reason I'm here is because I'm lonely and trying to blow off some steam by yelling at internet strangers :mad finger:
I don't think it's healthy for anyone tbh, and not healthy for BL in general. We just piss eachother off and gain zero influence with eachother.
The other threads about politics or social justice issues are a bit higher quality but the covid debates are a fucking shit show every time

Has anyone changed their mind on COVID after reading these threads? It seems like the opposite happens. We are all cementing ourselves. This happens generally with discussions but moreso with COVID because it's so personal and we're all affected by it.
I have been careful not to state my actual opinion about this. My answer is (sort of*) yes. I would honestly prefer mandatory vaccinations for all adults in Victoria. If you don't like it, you can leave. I have only said this to people via PM up until this point, but that is honestly my opinion. I think that probably makes me the most pro-vax person on BL. I am really looking forward to my next jab. I've been thinking about getting a custom t-shirts made that says triple jabbed.
*Like I said, if you don't like it you can leave. I don't believe people should be strapped down and forcibly injected with anything.

I'm also a soft yes. Clearly there should be exceptions. If people don't want to take the vaccine for personal reasons they have that right, I agree with that, however, they need to submit to a covid test any time they go into a major public place and need to wear masks.
Take schools for example, for several decades now ALL children needed to be immunized in order to attend public school. We should also maintain that standard for covid. If they want to home school or remote learn, go for it, but you cannot endanger other children with your own.
This is what I feel is the correct balance between personal freedoms and public safety.

I'd like to believe that people will do the right thing and wear masks, etc, but I am far from convinced that any measures taken by the government are going to adequately prevent transmission among unvaccinated people. I could make a fake vax certificate in five minutes that is indecipherable from the real deal. Half of the places I go don't ask for them, anyway. It's a joke. I'm tired of checking in and out every time I enter a store. I'm tired of masks. If everyone was vaccinated, my life would be easier.

i'd like to believe that too but this whole episode has taught me that some people only think about what's good for themselves.
