Covid-19 The New Covid Megathread v.Oh-my-cron!

I’ll tell you what snaffy if you can find one phrase that puts FOX news on the first page of google search results I’ll send you 20$…obviously it can’t be anything relating to FOX or it’s personalities in the search

What is the truth you expected him to level on? That were was no shortage?

No...the truth I wanted him to level on was that "masks help", basically. They KNEW that then...it wasn't simply a matter of them not knowing and flailing around, that would have been understandable given the chaotic circumstances. What is far less understandable is KNOWING that a certain health practice could at least mitigate the effects of an outbreak of disease...and then saying the OPPOSITE to journalists, albeit for a justified end in his mind. That seems like a classic example of "misinformation" to me.

I really don't understand why all the hate on Fauci. Everyone I see hating on Fauci says nothing about Trump's lies about the virus at all, which were significantly more egregious.
If Donald Trump is the standard that we're holding people to now then we are truly fucked lol

Everything that comes out of that orange asshole's mouth is a lie, pretty much. People expect that at this point, even his supporters. People hold a doctor and career public servant like Fauci to a higher standard, as they should IMO, and when they get the notion that they've been intentionally deceived by him, that's damaging to public trust in institutions like the CDC etc.

I'm not someone who thinks that Fauci was leering over some tortured poodles as he, Bill Gates and some CCP members in Wuhan synthesized COVID-19 or something, I don't think he's the devil, but I do think that he's made some very unfortunate and regrettable mistakes during this event, and it is totally valid to call him out on those things

To me it just seems like he was going off the best information he had, maybe he made a mistake, but it certainly isn't some nefarious lie with some weird agenda.

If he was going off of imperfect information, and made a mistake that way (i.e., the info he was receiving suggested that masks didn't help and that the virus was spread some other way than through the air), that would've been completely understandable. But that's not what happened in this case. In this case, he KNEW that the virus was being spread through the air, that masks were beneficial (that, after all, was his stated reason for saying what he said...that healthcare workers needed masks in short supply)...and then told people the opposite.

That is very different IMO

So you openly admit you don’t understand that google has political biases built into their search engine…actually explains alot
they don't have political bias, they just don't like propaganda and false information

and even if they did, it's a private company /shrug

you should use DuckDuckGo if you're concerned about google

wait what? when did Fauci ever tell anyone NOT to use a mask?

If Donald Trump is the standard that we're holding people to now then we are truly fucked lol

Why shouldn't he be held to standard? He was the president of the most powerful country on earth and has millions of followers. We shouldn't just leave it at "well he was crazy, but that's the past", because then the past is doomed to be repeated. Plus, he's making a pretty strong run for 2024, he's not even in the past yet.

But again man, I have never heard ANYONE, other than conservatives, tell me not to wear a mask in public. I'm honestly confused here?

Ok, now I see what you're talking about, I never saw this, but this still isn't that different from current guidance. He actually thoroughly explains himself here.

- This was during a mask shortage, healthcare workers need them more than average people
- We all know that masks aren't perfect protection, we've always known, but they do help a little
- The only people who should wear masks are those who are infected, in order to prevent spread

every point he mentions

so now that there are an abundance of masks, he tells people to wear them, makes sense to me

he's trying not to cause a panic here while directing the masks to where they are needed most

regardless of the inconsistencies, this is no reason to plug this into any hatred of the man or any wild conspiracies

This is the first pandemic in modern times, of course we aren't going to have it all figured out in the first month or two

He's speaking like a leader should IMO, I have no issue with this, and health guidance changes every day about everything not just pandemics

I just did based on your criteria? Or, I could just look up a story title on Fox and google it and watch it pop up

but either way I don't have time, because I don't care, and neither of us truly understand google's algorithm

you could say the same thing to MSNBC

why doesn't BL pop up on google? political agenda? censorship?

you technically owe me $20 brah ;)

No cause what you poster is relating to FOX directly, just like typing a fox headline would, come on now your suppose to be clever but this is obvious shit man

let's think about this, lets walk this out

if it's not that effective and preventing the general public from catching covid, why is it preventing healthcare workers from catching it?

is it because they're in close proximity to the infected?

let's actually workshop this and have a discussion

A
nah man, I'm giving you a chance to pwn me right now, don't you want to take it?

also just reaffirming the truth that google doesn't like propaganda outlets, Fox News.. MSNBC... it's both sides
And CNN and Washington Post isn’t propaganda…see it’s pointless to argue with someone who dosent live in reality
