The more free will we think we have, the more we behave as if we have free will

Free will is like an idol... that everyone wants. Or to be sure really needs to rely on as a person.

It's almost like freewill is like slack.. you can afford to do anything,,

It seems that many "free will" types rebel against the idea of determinism, while deterministic people find free will too flippant. I think they are two sides of the same coin... another duality that could do with some cross-over.

But the idea or ideation of being "free" gives a great joy to a person..

And then the question is "Why does it do that?"

Historically, freedom means unbounded, without repression, the ability to do and think as a sovereign individual without influence or interference. The concept is strong and liberating perhaps that is one of reasons it gives joy to person even if it is a concept, and idea, an ideation of possibility. There is hope although perhaps unrealistic.

There was a show on yesterday, and they were trying to explain how when we don't overthink things and are in a flow state, for example playing basketball and hitting all the shots because we're just "feeling it", they were claiming we have more agency, claiming that we act with free will when basically we aren't trying to manage ourselves, which seems like a paradox, but goes alongside the previously talked about points of being unbounded and undetermined.
