This was originally a long poem a friend of mine made and with her permission, I turned it into a song with a lot of tweeks.

Tonight in the jungle
The mighty mussed tangle that is my bed
The lion sleeps
But it is not an easy sleep, no
Despite what it seems he is not alright

[Chours]
He the lion
Battle-scarred and wary
Turned the pain inward and hungered for vengeance
If not for himself, then for others
To have at least some satisfaction

I know that sound
And am dogged by it while captive to scenes
Of the lonely lion cub persecuted
Pride pushed him out

[Chours]
He the lion
Battle-scarred and wary
Turned the pain inward and hungered for vengeance
If not for himself, then for others
To have at least some satisfaction

I, the mouse
Spent long years scurrying and hiding to survive
Tuck my head down and twitch whiskers
Stay out of the way

[Chours]
Drown himself in the melody
The spirits bubbly
Trying to recapture that moment of injustice
Of being ignored, unloved, pushed out

He the lion
Battle-scarred and wary
Turned the pain inward and hungered for vengeance
If not for himself, then for others
To have at least some satisfaction

I pull

The thorn

I pull the thorn from his paw

Tonight in the jungle
The mighty mussed tangle that is my bed
The lion sleeps
