Well it did cost a lot of pennies but in the house we go through a lot of drinking water ( kids, pets, cooking, etc). I would do a breakdown of cost but I AFAIK I'm not allowed to list prices (trying to get me in trouble :) )
For 1 or 2 people boiling water is practicable but for a family it's very time consumming.

Turkey salad wholemeal sandwich
Lol, I was not trying to get you into trouble--Naming prices for something like that is okay since as far as I know it's only prices for drugs that aren't allowed. And while certainly anything (including food) can be considered a drug since it interacts with your body, I personally don't consider water to be a drug. But anyways, you are right that boiling water for a family would be rather time consuming--And in that case, it might be cheaper in the long run to buy a water filter. Though I'd be leery of what's in that filter 'cause some of it's gotta get into the water. :P

Sorry to hear your divergence from your typical eating pattern didn't treat you too well! Hopefully you're starting to feel better!

Last had some plain Asian noodles since my stomach wasn't feelin' too well from all the crap I've eaten this weekend: About half a package of Newman O's "Hint o' Mint" cookies, half a pan of brownies, and foods that were much more processed than what I normally eat. Not to mention the alcohol I had. :P

I woke up and felt okay. Pretty shocking considering I hadn't had red meat in three years...

Today was a celebration day, so I drank and ate like a fucking bear coming out of hibernation. Not going to be eating healthily until I move. :) / :(

Be careful you don't get yourself a horrible stomach ache, man.

Just had two organic bananas and some graham crackers. Don't know what else I want to eat.

Well the water filter itself was $90AUD which came with everything to install besides a pressure regulator.
I got the pressure regulator and decent filter cartridges off a mate who's a plumber.
The way I was told to use this filter system was to run water through the system for 5 minutes when installing new cartridges to clean and to activate the carbon.
If it hasn't been used for over a day, run water for a minute through the system.
Carbon is like a sponge, it can only absorb so much. Once the carbon is full it will start leeching all the stuff it's collected back in the drinking water (AFAIK). Most filter manufactures say to change every 12 mths but the way I see it if your going to all this trouble it pays to change the filters 6-8 months.

Some veggie soup that I made on the weekend, no added salt, no stock from the store, all from scratch.
