Sounds like abit of bullshit for sure. No talk of withdrawals or nothing like that. Plus the 340mg's of xanax thing 8) . I knew someone on 6mg's of xanax and it took them months to get off that dose and they went way too fast. They suffered alot of real bad withdrawal symptoms because they didnt go to their doctor and do a valium or atleast a clonazepam taper.

Alot of people with bipolar are prescribed various benzos. I have bipolar and i take about 4mg's of clonazepam a day. If it's a bad day as in alot of mania i'll take more. Im prescribed 6mg's a day so it's no problem. I take the clonazepam along with lamotrigine and now wellbutrin.

I was originally prescribed it for anxiety but i now use it to help with the bipolar as well. Ive actually tapered down from 6mg's to 4mg's this past year cause i didnt need the full 6. Ive never had a problem with it at all and as for xanax it's my least favorite benzo. Temazepam is the one ive abused the shit out of sometimes.

But what doctor would prescribe someone with bipolar huge doses of adderall? Or any dose of adderall without a mood stabilizer that actually works for the patient. Thats just asking for mania. That doctor really should be in jail because he is a danger.
 
This article was extremely fucked up for me to read, but I really got caught up in it. I was a prescription drug addict for a long time and it really fucked my life up. I had a shrink that most people can't believe, my daily dose was:

-60mg DextroStat (for depression)
-3mg Xanax (breakthrough anxiety)
-16mg Klonopin (general anxiety management)
-2.8g Neurontin (for Bipolar Disorder)
-20mg Sonata (for insomnia)

My life was seriously helpless, and I knew I was going to die and couldn't control my life or my addiction anymore. This was sad to read and unfortunately I believe every word of it, because my doctor was even more generous (or careless) than this author's. I still fight the addiction every day, think about those pills alot, and just feel depressed and fatigued, in a lot of pain much of the time. At the same time, I would also say that I have a better outlook on life now than I ever have since coming off those drugs. I've gone back to some of them, especially Xanax, just because I can't turn it down. But I'm doing OK now for the most part and haven't taken it in quite a while.

P.S. I doubt 340mg of Xanax would kill you. I have taken 330mg before. On purpose, just because I had so much. I blacked out for 5 days straight, but was still awake on meth and dextroamphetamine.

Not to mention she would've OD'd for sure on that amount of adderall in such a short amount of time. still a good read though.

Depends on your insurance really.

I was initially prescribed 15 .25mg xanax from my doc, filled the script and it was 3 dollars, after some time she increased it to .50 and then wrote me a script for 90 (which is the normal amount she writes for, since the initial fifteen), went to fill it and it was 6 dollars, just like my 90 .25's were costing.

i agree. this was completely exaggerated. my ex had a super high tolerance....he took 40 1mg footballs and overdosed...he almost died. the paramedics came and revived him. the ER doc said he had the highest blood level of benzos she had ever seen. of course, we weren't in NYC either...

it actually says that more than 4mgs/day can be dangerous.....

i did not see anywhere in the article that stated 10mgs/day as maximum.....

i did see a mention of a study that some of the patients where given 10mgs/day, but it was not stated as the maximum.....
 
Well, it had advice for tritration to such a dosage, and does have a contradiction against using such a dosage, and actually nowhere does it state a maximum dosage (my mistake earlier) it has no recomended maximum, just a study in using upto 10mg/day and advice on how to tritrate to dosages above 4mg a day.
